Principal's Message
Dear Maple Glen Families,
We have had a great week at Maple Glen! First and foremost, I need to say WOW! We are incredibly proud to share that our students and families raised nearly 2,000 pounds of food during this year’s food drive for Open Doors in Westfield. Our students showed tremendous generosity and spirit, and we’re grateful for their commitment to giving back to the community.
A huge thank you to our PTO for helping organize and support this effort—we couldn’t have done it without you.
This week we started something new at Maple Glen - ARTISTS OF THE TRIMESTER. Mrs. Coleman and her students created beautiful art this trimester, and we look forward to showcasing some of the creations in our office. Congratulations to Every Sachs, Isla Sue Niekan, Holland Everline, James Ogrzewalla, Malin Hall, Gracelyn Petrowski, and Pravasthi Konijeti. Their artwork will be showcased in the office during second trimester.
Enjoy this lovely fall weather and we look forward to another great week,
Tiffany Buzan
171st/Ditch Closure - STILL CLOSED....
Just a friendly reminder that all cars should enter into Maple Glen from 169th/171st street. The bus lot is NOT a thorough fare to drop off students. Thank you for your flexibility.

disAbility Awareness
disAbility Awareness
This month is an exciting one—it’s really what we’ve been building up to all year! In our Circle Up Morning Meetings, we have learned how to identify our emotions and use coping skills to help our bodies and minds stay calm. Once we could manage our own feelings, we practiced important teamwork skills like collaboration and conflict resolution—things we use every day at school and at home.
Now, we’re bringing it all together! Students are learning that everyone has different needs, and through social and self-awareness, we can work together to make sure everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. It’s amazing to see how all of these skills connect!
We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Joseph Maley Foundation to bring our Disability Awareness program to Maple Glen! Disability Awareness is a developmentally-appropriate, standards-based curriculum that aims to build understanding and awareness of people with disabilities. Our engaging program fosters respect, empathy, and acceptance of all.
We invite you to talk with your children about what they experience and learn as part of the Disability Awareness program. Ask questions, share your own experiences, and join together to celebrate the differences that make us all unique.
If you are interested in finding out more about Joseph Maley Foundation and how you can be involved, please visit our website josephmaley.org or contact me via email at sbecher@josephmaley.org.

Talking Points
Westfield Washington Schools usesTalkingPoints to communicate with families! TalkingPoints allows for seamless multilingual two-way communication between teachers and families. Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.
This platform has enhanced translation capabilities, so families can receive and send messages in their preferred language. Additional tools like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and closed captioned videos make this program accessible to all of our Westfield families.
The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct. When a teacher sends out a message, TalkingPoints will automatically use those two phone numbers. If you’d like to add additional contacts, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
