DKHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
"Do A Job"
JANUARY 10, 2025
This first post of 2025 finds us moving full speed ahead into semester 2 after just one week. Big shout out to our Guidance Counselor Mr. Vanhoose for his work on schedule adjustments, grade updates, senior audits, and the many other tasks that are flying his way at a non-stop pace. I know he is putting in extra time in the evenings and was here multiple days over Christmas Break. We appreciate you, Mr. V!!
I want to welcome Connie High back to the place where she belongs. Mrs. High is back after a leave of absence and already her presence is felt in positive ways for all of us. Mrs. High is leading a new class called FPME, Future Proud Michigan Educators which is designed to give kids exposure and experience in the classroom for students interested in exploring the teaching profession as a career. Those students will be matched with classrooms at the elementary and middle school buildings.
Our semester 1 report cards will be mailed out either today or Monday, so you should see those in your mailbox at some point next week. Please remind your student of the significance of getting the semester off to a good start. Falling behind early makes it much more difficult to secure the needed credits
A few dates to get on your calendar include our Follies performances which will be on February 19, 21, and 22. Our Winterfest game and activities will be on January 31 and our Hall of Fame Night is set for February 14 between the varsity basketball games. This year’s HOF inductees will be Dale Grimes and Katie Dolfman. Two deserving winners who have impacted our school and community way behind their athletic achievements. Come out and celebrate these two outstanding people.
Our Student Wellness Room is almost complete. Big Shout Out to Olivia Post, Cora Morris, Kelsey Seagle, Kalaya Wisniewski, Grace Ulrich, and Claire Barker who have been heavily involved in this project from our Mental Health Ambassadors and are this week’s Hogie’s Heroes DO A JOB winners.
Another Hogie’s Hero DO A JOB award winner is Tanner Wyant. Tanner plays on our JV basketball team and earlier this week he loaned a pair of shoes he had to a Parchment player who had forgotten his shoes. That player would not have been able to play were it not for Tanner’s generosity and act of kindness. We are proud of you Tanner. Thanks for living out our character trait of kindness.
