Dear HMS Parent,
If you have already paid the mLISD non-refundable security deposit for the 2025/2026 school year or your child will continue to bring their own personal device for school, please ignore this.
If you have not paid the $60 mLISD non-refundable security deposit (high school student) or $40 mLISD non-refundable security deposit (middle school student) for the 2025/2026 school year, then please consider doing so before May 14th. This will allow your child to keep their laptop/Chromebook with them over the summer and it will be ready to be used the first day of school. Students who qualify for Free and Reduced meals will no longer need to pay the deposit. However, they will need to turn in a signed agreement form or register through our online vendor, currently MySchoolBucks.
Advantages to students keeping the laptop/Chromebook over the summer:
- Students can practice their typing and extend their learning through self-guided projects
- Students can access eBooks via Overdrive or Google Books
- Students will have their laptop/Chromebook on the first day of school. Deployment at the beginning of the year may mean you have to wait until the 2nd or 3rd week of school to receive your laptop/Chromebook.
- Your mLISD security deposit is already taken care of, so there is one less expense in the August back-to-school budget.
If the non-refundable security deposit is not paid by May 14th, then your child’s laptop/Chromebook will be picked up starting on May 15th. Please contact your grade-level counselor for information regarding scholarship availability.

A) Debit/credit cards through the mLISD website
B) Cash payment and parent agreement form through the school’s front office
C) Hardship Scholarship opportunities are available. Please complete the Online Scholarship Application. Or, check with the office for paper forms.
