Trail Blazer Bulletin Sept 30-Oct 4

Dear Trail Blazer Community
As we wrap up another busy week on the Trail, I am reminded of what a special place Lebanon Trail is, and I am so thankful for the support of the LT community.
Please take a moment to check out all the student celebrations and see how our students continue to do great things, lead with empathy, and positively impact their communities.
Additionally, please take a moment to ensure that you are informed of the altered schedule for Wednesday, October 2nd due to PSAT testing.
Digital PSAT Day - October 2
All FISD 10th and 11th grade students are automatically registered to take the PSAT/NMSQT, free of charge, during the school day on October 2, 2024. The PSAT helps students identify academic areas of strength and growth, as well as prepare for college entrance exams like the SAT. The PSAT/NMSQT is also the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program for students in 11th grade and the National Recognition Programs for both 10th and 11th grade students.
This fall the PSAT/NMSQT will be administered in a digital format that will provide an overall easier testing experience for students. Your student will take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 2nd using their own school-issued device. Students are strongly encouraged to opt-in to the District’s 1 for All Chromebook program to ensure device compatibility with online testing. If your student has not opted in to the 1 for All Chromebook program, there will be a limited number of Chromebooks available on test day on a first come, first served basis.
IMPORTANT PSAT INFORMATION FOR ALL STUDENTS – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2
Grades 9 and 12
All FISD 9th and 12th grade students will have late arrival and report to campus at 12:15pm.
Grades 10 and 11
The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered on campus on Wednesday, October 2 to 10th and 11th graders only.
Testing will begin at 9:00 AM sharp and anyone who arrives late will not be allowed to test. Students taking the PSAT are not permitted to access cell phones or smart watches during the exam. Devices must be powered off and stored in a designated location during the exam. If a student is observed with any prohibited electronic device in the testing room or during a break their scores will be canceled.
Students will receive an email by September 30 with their test room number.
Students with late arrival 1A must arrive by 9:00 AM. Students who will miss a dual credit course due to the PSAT must communicate with their professor prior to test day.
Students should bring the following on test day:
- pencils
- (can bring) their own approved calculator. *The Desmos graphing calculator (desmos.com/calculator) is embedded in the test, and school calculators will be provided for Juniors.
- snacks and drinks (which may only be consumed during official breaks)
For questions about the PSAT, please contact the Campus Testing Facilitator, Lauren Phillips, at PhillipsL@friscoisd.org.
Junior Class of 2026
Jostens was here today to visit with your student about their 2026 Class Ring! We thought you would appreciate having a copy of what was handed out during their assembly. Please be aware that the best pricing will be in effect until the deadline noted on the flyer. There is a virtual ring sizer provided (see flyer) but Jostens has also left physical sizers in our front reception office. Click here to be taken directly to our school’s homepage at Jostens.
The 2024-25 Campus goal is to close the achievement gap between students enrolled in on-level classes and students enrolled in advanced classes with a supporting goal of increasing student engagement in all our classrooms.
We are excited to kick off this year’s Lebanon Trail Professional Development (LTPD) series, an initiative designed to empower and equip our educators in alignment with our campus goals.
LTPD provides job-embedded opportunities for teachers to lead, share instructional best practices, and engage in continuous growth. Sessions will focus on strategies such as student discourse, meaningful student engagement, effective inquiry and questioning techniques, providing constructive feedback, and the appropriate use of technology. By fostering collaboration and leadership among our staff, we are building a culture of adult learning that will ultimately enrich our students’ educational journey.
