WEEKLY RECAP
We had another great week at IHMS as we head into April and continue to dive into learning!
7th grade Advanced Science students are wrapping up their 3D models for the “New Kansas City Project,” where they designed environmentally friendly stadiums and surrounding cities. In 8th grade Science, students compared cheek and onion cells to deepen their understanding of animal and plant cell structures.
In Art Exploration, students have started sketching designs for our 70th anniversary project, highlighting our Knights mascot and school culture. 8th grade ELA students shared their argumentative research projects with peers through TED Talks, TED-Ed videos, and podcasts. Students interested in culinary also had the opportunity to visit the CAA, where they prepared Thai coconut soup and shrimp balls.
We’re proud of the creativity and hard work our students continue to demonstrate!

CLUB HIGHLIGHT
Musical
IHMS is thrilled to present Matilda the Musical May 7th-9th with more than 130 talented cast and crew members!
Showtimes: 7:00pm. Box office opens at 6:15.
Tickets will be available for purchase at the door before each performance ($6, cash or check)
Families of cast and crew members will be able to purchase tickets online prior to the show dates.
DINNER TABLE TALK
This week’s Table Talk prompt opens the door to self-reflection and problem-solving. We ask, “What’s something you could have made better today?” This isn’t about complaints or criticism—it’s an invitation to explore ideas and solutions. When parents validate their child’s thinking rather than correcting it, kids build confidence, self-reliance, and a sense that they are capable of figuring things out.
MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE
SEEK students prepared for the Metro Kansas City Model United Nations Conference through in-depth research and position paper writing prior to the event. At the conference, they strengthened their negotiation skills and participated in thoughtful debates on important global issues.
IHMS Students Were Awarded the Following:
- Asher Berg: Honorable Mention
- Emily Carr: Outstanding Position Paper
- Addie Daggett: Distinguished Delegation and Outstanding Position Paper
- Nathan Dumler: Outstanding Position Paper
- Elliot Johnson: Distinguished Delegation
- Lilly Walker: Outstanding Position Paper
- Patrick Zueckert: Outstanding Position Paper

WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP
We will be going on a field trip to Johnson County Community College on Tuesday, April 7, from 9:15am-1:15pm. Students will take a tour of the campus, participate in a leadership development activity, and enjoy lunch on campus. Students are responsible for any missed classroom work. The students highlighted in green on this list are attending.
Students attending - please bring a sack lunch or at least $12 to buy lunch at the JCCC campus.
YES CLUB POP TAB COLLECTION
We are excited to support the Ronald McDonald House through our pop tab collection! Collection containers are located in the cafeteria, and we encourage students to bring in and donate pop tabs. These small items make a big impact—Advantage Metals Recycling purchases the tabs at market rate and provides an additional charitable contribution, while also donating their pick-up and handling services. This means all proceeds go directly to support families in need. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
