💌 A Note from Mrs. Williams
Hello Falcon Families,
Can't believe we just completed our first full week of 5th grade and it was jammed pack. We started with a Pep Rally and ended by completing our iReady Reading and Math Beginning of the Year Inform. This is data is used as a baseline assessment to measure student's starting skill level in reading and math. We will take iReady Inform again in January. Reports will come home in our Weekly Folder.
Please make sure to register for our Field Trip using this link as soon as possible. Use trip code: Dacula2027 to create an account and start a payment plan. It is important for us to start planning now to secure charter buses. Check out the flyer below for more information.
Have a great weekend,
Mrs. Lescet Williams
📸 Check out what we have been doing!
We started out the week with a Pep Rally with some special guests. Here is a video of our Hula Hoop Pass Relay teachers vs. students.
📚 What are we studying?
Language Arts: We will continue to read Esperanza Rising and make connections to the articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that are being threatened. As we read we will focus on determining the main idea and summarizing the articles as well as identifying how each chapter contributes to the overall structure of the story.
Math: We will continue determining volume of rectangular prisms by applying formulas length x width x height or base x height. Success in this unit requires strong foundational skills in multiplication. Please make sure to practice fact fluency at home.
Social Studies: We are ending our Personal Finance unit learning how to create a personal budget and a review day. The assessment will be on Wednesday, August 19th. Here is the study guide that students will receive in class on Monday.
Science: We will begin science on Thursday by investigating what scientist do and learning about the 8 science and engineering practices. Then, we will learn how scientist use Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning to develop solutions to problems.
