Madison High School Updates

This past Monday, Madison High School was selected to host a visit with our State Representative, Mrs. Nancy Jenkins-Arno. The visit was facilitated by the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) and allowed MHS to showcase our commitment to college and career readiness as evidenced by the variety of opportunities available to our students to support their post-secondary plans. While at Madison, Representative Jenkins-Arno met with three MHS seniors (Bella Lamley, Carson Warner & Alan Silva) to learn more about how students benefit from taking AP Courses, enrolling in Dual-Enrollment/CollegeNow courses, along with taking CTE Programs both at Madison and the LISD Tech Center. Representative Jenkins-Arno and the team from the MCAN were impressed with our students and appreciated the efforts of school community to foster a college and career culture!

This past week, 17 HOSA students from the Madison HOSA Chapter competed at the State HOSA Competition and Leadership Conference in Traverse City! We had three MHS Students earn top 8 honors at the state level! Congratulations to Bella Lamley who competed in Medical Spelling and Wade Garza and Henry Vo who competed in Forensic Science.

Mr. Vogel's Sports Communication class had the opportunity to interview Elijah Evans, CFO of Just Baseball Media. Mr. Evans discussed with students how he and the company communicates through multiple platforms and students had the opportunity to ask questions - it was a great interactive experience!

This past Friday, 4 MHS Students represented Madison at the Adrian College Tactical Competition & Meet the Army event. Students competed in a variety of physical challenges while having the opportunity to view a Blackhawk helicopter, Army tanks and tour the Adrian College Campus. The Counseling Office is working on a display to recognize and celebrate each senior's future plans. All seniors were sent a survey to complete that will ensure everyone can be included. If your senior has not yet made a decision on their future plans, please encourage them to communicate to the Counseling Office once a decision is made!

I have had the opportunity to meet with all of the freshmen, sophomores and juniors to discuss their schedules for the upcoming year, including courses at Madison, the Tech Center, and dual-enrollment options. Seniors,

Please complete the Senior Athlete Form if you have earned a varsity letter in any sport during your HS career. The form is used to order your Senior Athlete Award plaques as well criteria used when determining the Senior Athlete of the Year recipients (Male and Female).

Please complete and return to Mrs. Jordan by May 8th. Printed copies can be found in the HS Office.

The Senior Athlete Awards will be presented at the Spring Athletic Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 28th at 6pm in the PAC.
