Mr. Scott Nelson is our staff spotlight for September. He teaches History and Economics for our Social Studies department.

Mr. Nelson received his bachelor's degree from Utah Valley University in Social Studies. He is married and has two boys. He has been to 49 states and 25 countries. He lived in the Middle East for 4 years. When he's not teaching, he loves hiking and hunting. He enjoys reading and belongs to a book club. He also loves music and belongs to a music club as well.

Twin Falls High School is his first official high school teaching job; he has been teaching here and is entering his third year. He feels very welcomed at TFHS. The Social Studies department is very close; they often get together outside of work. He is also a big fan of those teachers who share B and Q hall. They socialize outside of work as well. "I am learning what it means to be a true Bruin and I'm loving it," says Mr. Nelson.

We have really enjoyed having Mr. Nelson here at TFHS. He not only is a stellar educator, but he builds relationships with his students and has a great sense of humor which helps his students engage in his lessons, learn the concepts, and successfully master the material he presents.

Thank you for all you do, Mr. Nelson!

Twin Falls High School Named 5A School of Excellence

Twin Falls High School is proud to be the recipient once again of the school of excellence award. This year we won the top honor in our 5A division. This award is a culmination of all of the efforts of staff, students, and parents in academics, activities, and sportsmanship. The culture of Twin Falls High School is a prominent reason why we have either won or been in the top three schools in our division every single year since the inception of this award. Congratulations, Bruins!

What Does it Mean to Be a Bruin? What Does it Mean to Be a Bruin?

Building Bruin Culture Throughout TFHS

Over a year ago, we surveyed a wide range of stakeholders—including current and former staff, students, and community members. They shared their perspectives on Twin Falls High School: their most meaningful memories, areas for improvement, and the values they believe should unite all Bruins.

Using this feedback, our STUCO advisors and Principal Jones collaborated with Rinard Media to create a video highlighting our shared core values. We invite you to watch and reflect on what it truly means to be a Bruin: Standing Up Together with Integrity and Excellence. We are Dedicated, Driven, and Disciplined to bring our best—EVERY DAY! TFHS Community Partners Parents with Staff to Assist Students TFHS Community Partners Parents with Staff to Assist Students

As parents and educators of high schoolers, our responsibility is to help our students understand that education is not just about grades, but about preparing for life. Yet grades, attendance, and engagement in learning are the practical indicators of whether they are developing the habits that lead to competence and independence. If our students learn to show up on time, apply themselves consistently, and take their studies seriously, they are laying the groundwork for responsibility and resilience. Overlooking poor attendance or dismissing weak effort communicates that discipline and follow-through don’t matter—when in fact they matter immensely. Our task is to set clear expectations, reinforce the importance of showing up and working hard, and model that same commitment in our own lives. In doing so, we can help them grow into young adults who can carry their own weight and contribute meaningfully to the world. Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in teaching our Bruins the important values that will equip them both now and in the future.

Teen LeaderSHIP Program offering scholarships to Class of 2026 graduates.

The Children's Museum of the Magic Valley's Teen LeaderSHIP Program is thrilled to announce that we will be offering scholarships! Thanks to generous community support, we have secured two $1,000 scholarships for graduating seniors in the Class of 2026.

  • Domino’s has made it possible for us to award one scholarship to a Teen LeaderSHIP participant who resides in the Twin Falls School District.

  • Ridley’s Family Markets has made it possible for us to award one scholarship to a Teen LeaderSHIP participant who resides in the Magic Valley (outside of the Twin Falls School District).

We are also actively seeking additional local business partners to expand this opportunity, so stay tuned, as more scholarships may become available!

But Teen LeaderSHIP is about more than scholarships. All high school students are encouraged to apply for the program! It’s a fun, supportive environment where students can:

  • Build leadership skills

  • Strengthen teamwork & planning abilities

  • Earn volunteer hours

  • Make a lasting impact in our community

Congratulations to Danya Peters, our DECA and Blue Crew teacher, who was honored recently by the Career Technical Educators of Idaho as the Region 4 and state of Idaho "New Teacher of the Year." Ms. Peters has created two school businesses that are solely run by our students: "Bruin Pop Shop" which sells Italian sodas during lunch and "BluePrints" which prints Bruin gear for our staff and students. She will also help with our new rebranding effort so we can make our new Bruin brand visible to all who visit our school.

Congratulations to our very own Megan Greenwood, who was nominated by our American Legion chapter for Educator of the Year from Twin Falls. Brian and Donna English visited TFHS to present her with the certificate. Congratulations, Megan! Thank you for modeling excellence in your professional practice, which helps your students succeed and grow. Special thanks to the American Legion members for your service and for honoring our teachers.

Policy Reminders Policy Reminders

Technology and Dresscode

Standing Up with Excellence as a Bruin means making sure we follow both school and district policies. Please remember:

  • Cell phones, earbuds/headphones, smartwatches, and other personal electronic devices may only be used before school, at lunch, or after school.

  • Our dress code must also be followed to help create a positive, distraction-free learning environment.

We’ve already noticed an increase in student participation and engagement in class, and we appreciate your continued support in keeping the focus on learning. Together, we can promote success, growth, and excellence in everything we do at TFHS.
