As you may have seen in other recent communications, we are thrilled to announce that Kimberly Johnson-Lesny has been selected as the next Principal of Cambridge Elementary School. Kimberly will assume her duties this summer, following a comprehensive search and interview process that included students, staff, and community members.

Kimberly joins us with over a decade of dedicated service in the Mount Mansfield Unified Union School District, where she has excelled as a special educator and Special Services Coordinator. Known as a relationship-driven leader, she believes that a deep sense of belonging and joy in the classroom are the foundations of meaningful learning.

“I am eager to partner with the Cambridge Elementary School community to build on its many strengths,” Kimberly shared. She is committed to fostering an inclusive environment rooted in literacy and social-emotional learning. Kimberly lives in Essex with her husband and is the proud parent of two college students. Please join us in giving her a warm Lamoille North welcome this summer!

As we prepare for this transition, we also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Principal Mary Anderson, as she approaches retirement, for her years of exemplary leadership. Her recent recognition as the Vermont Elementary Principal of the Year is a testament to the incredible impact she has had on our students and families.

In another significant transition, Lamoille Union Middle School (LUMS) Principal Chris Hennessey has announced his retirement from the field of education in Vermont, effective this summer.

Chris has been a pillar of the Lancer community, leading the middle school with a steady hand, a kind heart, and an unwavering commitment to his students and staff. After a distinguished career as a Vermont educator and school leader, Chris and his wife have decided to embark on a new chapter, which includes a move to Maine!

In his announcement to staff, Chris expressed his gratitude for the "wonderful experience" of leading LUMS, noting that the community has had a profound impact on him both personally and professionally.

We want to thank Chris for his service, his thoughtful guidance through the unique challenges of the middle school years, and the positive culture he has fostered within our district. His presence will be missed, but we are happy for him as he moves toward this well-deserved next step.

Looking Ahead

The search for a new leader for Lamoille Union Middle School has begun. We are committed to finding a candidate who will continue the legacy of excellence and community focus that Chris has established. We will keep the community updated as this process unfolds.
