Family Update
Davis Middle School
February 27, 2026
As we get ready to move through this long stretch of March before spring break, we know it can feel like a marathon for our students (and adults, too!). This time of year often brings a mix of spring fever and tiredness, but please know our staff is working hard every day to keep learning engaging, meaningful, and fun.
Our teachers are planning interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and collaborative opportunities to keep students interested and motivated. We are also continuing to reinforce routines, positive behavior expectations, and goal-setting so students stay focused and continue with good effort.
You can help at home by:
-
Encouraging consistent sleep routines
-
Checking in with your students about assignments and upcoming assessments
-
Celebrating effort, not just grades. It is so important to encourage students to try, even if they think "I can't...", we can prove how much they can do if they just give it a good try.
-
Reminding students that spring break is just around the corner!
We are proud of the resilience our middle schoolers show each day. Thank you for your continued partnership and support — it truly makes a difference.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Go Irish!
Jaime

No High School Classes for 8th Grade Students - March 3
If you have an 8th grade student that takes a high school class 1st period at Scioto or Emerald Campus, they will not attend that class on March 3. The high schools have a delayed start on March 3 due to the school day SAT test. Therefore, our 8th grade students who take high school classes should report to Davis in the morning. If they ride a bus, they should ride their normal middle school bus rather than the high school bus that morning.

8th Grade Trip Week
If you have an 8th grader, this is important information...
On Wednesday, Ms. Wilhelm and Mrs. Gerlach met with all of the 8th grade students.
Ms. Wilhelm met with students who are attending the Washington, DC trip. Students were given important paperwork that needs to be filled out by parents. In the event that your student did not bring home this packet to you, it can be accessed here. There are forms that need to be notarized. Please make sure you wait to sign that form until you are with a notary.
We will be having a notary night at Davis on March 24 from 3:30-6:30PM. You can bring your paperwork in on that day and Mrs. Esker will be available to notarize your papers.
We will also be having a parent meeting that evening at 5:30PM in the commons to go over final trip details and share information pertaining to dietary and/or medication. Please plan to join us if your student will be going on the DC trip.
Mrs. Gerlach met with the students who are not going to DC and will experience a fun week of opportunities in Central Ohio. She gave them paperwork to bring home to you about the three field trips that are planned for the week. This paperwork will need to be filled out designating which trips your student is planning to attend. If your student did not bring home the paperwork, you can access it here.
If you have any questions pertaining to the trips, please reach out to Ms. Wilhelm or Mrs. Gerlach.
Ramadan -- Lunch Time Accommodations
For our students who will be celebrating Ramadan, we will be providing a space for students to report to instead of going to the cafeteria at lunch time while they are fasting, if they so choose.
Our 6th grade students can report to the Band Room (Room 135) during their lunch.
Our 7th grade students can report to the Choir Room (Room 137) during their lunch.
Our 8th grade students can report to the Orchestra Room (Room 136) during their lunch.
Students can bring their Chromebooks to work on or a book to read. Cell phones will not be permitted.
We will be making an announcement at school but please share this information with your student if they will be fasting/celebrating Ramadan. Thanks!

Spring Sports Information Sheet
Spring Sports Pay to Participate Fees- Athletes who are playing a Spring sport this year will not be able to pay their participation fee until March 2, 2026. Each athlete, once they make the final roster, will be assigned a sports participation fee for that sport in their Infinite Campus account. That will then open up a payment window in PaySchools for each family to pay their required fee. Coaches will send a notice as well to all their athletes and families that the fees have been assigned and are ready for payment. As always, you can continue to pay with cash or a check if you prefer. Thanks for your patience as we continue to navigate through our new system.
Important Sports Dates Coming Up...

High School Late Start - Tuesday, March 3
Dublin City Schools will administer the SAT to all 11th-grade students on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Because the SAT will be administered during the school day, high schools will operate on a three-hour delayed start schedule for students who are not testing. View the delayed start high school bell schedule HERE.
Middle school students who take classes at a high school should not report to the high school on March 3. Students may arrive at their middle school in time for their scheduled classes if they have transportation.
