HMS Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 7th!

We are excited to bring back our annual HMS Veterans Day Assembly and Classroom Visits this year! We will hold this event on Friday, November 7th this year and hope that our esteemed guests will be able to join us for a day of recognition and learning.

There are a variety of ways that students, families and community members can participate in our celebration.

  • Assembly - We would love to recognize all veterans who are able to participate at the assembly. Please complete the Google form with your name, branch of military and years of service. It should last from 9:15 am to about 10:40 am.

  • Luncheon - Veterans and their families, including your HMS student, are welcome to attend a luncheon following the assembly in the upper gym. Please RSVP for the luncheon on the same google form indicating how many people will attend the luncheon.

  • Classroom Visits - We are also looking for veterans who would like to stay and share their experiences in the military with our social studies class. Please indicate yes or no on the Google form below. Visits will start at 10:55 am and run throughout the school day until 3:40 pm. Please comment on the form on the time frame you are able to attend

  • Veteran Poster - Do you have a veteran in your family? Complete this Honor Your Veteran Poster that we will hang in the HMS hallways. Complete the Poster and have your student give it to their Social Studies Teacher.

  • Donate to the Veteran Luncheon: Sign Up here to make a lunch donation. We are in need of food items, paper products, utensils, etc.

If you or a family member is interested in attending and participating in the above events, please fill out this form (the link has since been updated; thank you to those who reached out)!

An Update from our PBIS Crew!

Congratulations to our 1st quarter PAWS award winners! Students being recognized have been nominated by their team of teachers for demonstrating positive behaviors throughout the quarter. Our students were recognized with a pizza lunch, a t-shirt, a certificate and recognition over the announcements.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Our Whippur Way Lesson next week will be focused on Bullying. Specifically, learning how to be an Upstander. Unity Day is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. This is a day when we can come together to send a visible message of building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
The call to action is simple: wear and share the color orange on October 22nd. This vibrant statement becomes a conversation starter, showing support for students who have been bullied and for bullying prevention.
