Families,

It truly doesn’t seem possible that we’re entering the last week of May! Our cheetahs have been as busy as ever; and our grade level teams have continued to take their learning on the road with some amazing field experiences.

Kindergarten and Grade 3 students ventured out this week, and both trips were aligned to Wit & Wisdom modules. In addition, they both helped our learners recognize America 250! What a perfect way to ease into Memorial Day weekend!

As you enjoy your holiday weekend, please take a moment to reflect on the military personnel who have passed while serving in the armed forces. Thank you to those who serve.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best,

Joey & Andrea

Final Cheetah Pride Assembly Of The Year Final Cheetah Pride Assembly Of The Year

Today we enjoyed our last Cheetah Pride assembly of the 2025-26 school year! It was such a pleasure to reflect on all of the growth we’ve made as a school community this year, and to begin talking about summer plans, including summer reading!. We had a special visit from the East Hampton Public Librarian, who came to chat with us about their summer reading programs. Be sure to stop by EHPL for more information.

Grade 3 Took A Walking History Tour Of East Hampton Grade 3 Took A Walking History Tour Of East Hampton

In recognition of America 250, third graders took a trip back in time to see what school was like long ago, and to visit the Bevin Bell Factory. The Bevin Bell Factory has been continuously producing bells in East Hampton for nearly two centuries, making it the oldest bell manufacturer in the United States. Our students got to see, and learn about, a special bell that is being manufactured to commemorate our nation’s 250th birthday!

Kindergarteners Visit Mystic Seaport Kindergarteners Visit Mystic Seaport

Kindergarten students visited Mystic Seaport Museum for an engaging, hands-on learning experience connected to our America Then & Now Wit & Wisdom module. Students explored a recreated 19th-century seaport village and experienced what life was like long ago through visits to a one-room schoolhouse, historic homes, ships, a printing press, and toys from the past. The trip brought history to life by helping students compare transportation, communication, school, and daily life from the past to today in a meaningful and interactive way. It was also a great way to recognize our Nation’s 250th birthday!

Hello Memorial Families! Please find your student’s grade level below to see what we’ve been up to this month in music class!

Preschool: Students had fun dancing to music and playing the “copycat game” with movements to music!

Kindergarten: – Kindergarten students were expected to make a “perfect match” with their singing voices when singing hello to the teacher. They continued to identify long and short sounds in music. They also practiced their cheetah pride rules while exploring music tools at music centers!

First Grade: This month, students were expected to read patterns made of the notes “sol” and “mi”. Students are also exploring instruments in the percussion family this month. They tried (or will try) an “instrument detective” activity where they identified the best way to play the instrument (hit, shake, scrape).

Second Grade: This month, students identified the dotted half note in the classic springtime song “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”. They also worked on composing a song to be played on boomwhackers. They found out about a musical form called “rondo” during a fun music activity too!

Third Grade: Students worked hard to wrap up our recorder unit by meeting or exceeding the goal of earning green belt! It was so impressive to watch the hard work and perseverance students showed during this program! We have also been learning about instruments in the four families of the orchestra. Next week, students will participate in our “Instrument Petting Zoo” to find out about band instruments they can play in fourth grade at center school!

Please check out the music room website for more information about the music program. Feel free to reach out at any time by emailing smaldonado@easthamptonct.org.
