Five Good Things in Spring
March 15, 2026
What happens when two campuses win a districtwide challenge? In Spring ISD, it means the superintendent shows up to teach! Beneke Elementary and Spring Early College Academy earned bragging rights after winning the districtwide competition for achieving 100 percent participation in the Spring ISD Employee Engagement Survey. As part of the celebration, Superintendent Dr. Kregg Cuellar stepped into the classroom to teach and spend more time with students.
At Beneke Elementary, Dr. Cuellar joined Ms. Allison Boyerโs fourth-grade class, and at Spring Early College Academy, he moderated a ninth-grade class alongside teacher Gladys Ricardo. Students actively participated and shared their learning with members of the districtโs executive leadership team. Both visits wrapped up with a sweet finale โ a pie smash celebration that left smiles everywhere.
Beyond the fun, the visits celebrated the campusesโ outstanding staff engagement while creating meaningful moments of connection with students and teachers. ๐๐ฅง
Her big day is today, March 15, when sheโll head to the rodeo for a full day of celebration and recognition during the auction event. Dianaโs success shines alongside the support of her family, the encouragement of campus leaders, and the guidance of art teacher Maria Matthews, whose classroom continues to spark creativity at Northgate Crossing. Give Diana a huge Spring ISD round of applauseโthis young artist is heading to the rodeo spotlight! ๐๐๏ธ
Letโs give a big round of applause to Sharmonie and the Momentum team for keeping the momentum going! ๐๐
Energy, inspiration and big dreams filled the halls at Dekaney High School as nearly 600 Spring ISD students gathered for the annual Boys and Girls Empowerment Summit. Students spent their Saturday exploring breakout sessions led by community leaders, entrepreneurs and mentors who shared powerful lessons on leadership, resilience and preparing for the future. Ideas sparked, encouragement flowed and students left the day feeling motivated and confident about the paths ahead. A special shoutout goes to Lorena Barreno-Zertuche and the incredible Family and Community Engagement team for organizing this impactful event and creating a space where students could connect, learn and grow together. It was a meaningful day that celebrated student voice, leadership and the strength of the Spring ISD community. ๐

Spring ISD Pre-K applications for the 2026-27 school year open April 1, and families are encouraged to get ready now. The early years shape everything. Children ages 3 and 4 build critical skills in reading, problem-solving and social development that prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. District data shows students who attend Spring ISD Pre-K perform stronger on third grade STAAR Reading and Math assessments. A strong start matters!
FREE PK3 is available for eligible 3-year-olds who live within district boundaries or are children of Spring ISD employees. FREE PK4 is open to qualifying 4-year-olds, regardless of residency. Space is limited at select campuses, so early application is key. Families should begin gathering required documents now so they are ready when the application goes live. Visit the Spring ISD Pre-K website starting April 1 to apply and secure your childโs seat. Big learning begins here. ๐ Click here for more information!
