A Note from the Principal A Note from the Principal

As we come to the close of another wonderful school year, I want to thank you for being such supportive partners in your child’s learning journey. This year has been filled with growth, curiosity, laughter, and many moments we will carry forward with pride.

Our students have worked hard—building new skills, strengthening friendships, and showing resilience and kindness each day. Watching them grow academically and socially has been a true joy, and it would not be possible without the encouragement and care you provide at home.

I am incredibly grateful to our dedicated teachers and staff who create safe, engaging, and nurturing classrooms, and to our families for trusting us with your children every day. Together, we make our school a special place to learn and belong.

As summer begins, I hope your days are filled with rest, fun, reading, and meaningful time together. We look forward to welcoming our returning students back in the fall and cheering on our students as they move on to their next exciting chapter.

Thank you for a fantastic year. Wishing you a safe, happy, and relaxing summer!

Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to stay informed for Back to School events!

A Note from the Assistant Principal A Note from the Assistant Principal

Dear Families,

As we wrap up another wonderful school year, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for partnering with us and for entrusting us each day with your most precious gift—your children. It has been a joy to watch our students learn, grow, and excel this year, and none of it would be possible without your support, encouragement, and involvement.

Thank you for the many ways you have contributed to a fantastic year—supporting learning at home, participating in school events such as our Rise and Shine Workshops, musical performances, and Literacy Night. Your involvement has made a tremendous difference and has helped create the strong, supportive school community we value so much.

I am so proud of all that our students have accomplished and grateful for the opportunity to be part of their journey. As we look ahead to next year, I do so with excitement and optimism. We have so much to look forward to, and I know that, through continued hard work and dedication to the HCE mission, our students will continue to thrive.

Thank you again for a fantastic year. I wish you and your family a safe, restful, and joy-filled summer, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for another amazing year ahead!

Media Center News with Mrs. Pike and Ms. Kaci Media Center News with Mrs. Pike and Ms. Kaci

What an incredible year of reading, learning, and growing in the HCE Media Center! We are so proud of our students and all they have accomplished.

During Media Center lessons, students have enjoyed listening to and engaging with a variety of fun and meaningful read-alouds. Some of our favorites this year included The Very Impatient Caterpillar by Ross Burach, The Floating Field: How a Group of Thai Boys Built Their Own Soccer Field by Scott Riley, Too Many Carrots by Katy Hudson, Dandy by Ame Dyckman, and Patrick Picklebottom and the Living Room of Lava by Mr. Jay—just to name a few! Students were encouraged to take Accelerated Reader (AR) quizzes on these titles to build comprehension and earn points while having fun with great stories.

We are also so excited to share that our schoolwide AR goal of 12,000 points has officially been reached—WOW! This is such an amazing accomplishment and truly reflects the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. Way to go, HCE readers! Be on the lookout, a special surprise celebration is coming soon to honor all of this incredible reading success!

As we head into summer, we encourage you to keep your child’s love of reading going strong. Whether it’s visiting the library, reading together at home, or exploring new books, every page makes a difference!

Be sure to check out the Collier County Public Library Summer Reading Program for even more fun and motivation:

Thank you for your continued support this year. Wishing all of our HCE families a safe, relaxing, and book-filled summer!

Counselor Corner with Mrs. Denny Counselor Corner with Mrs. Denny

As we approach the end of the school year, it’s a time full of excitement, reflection, and celebration! Our students have worked incredibly hard to learn, grow, and overcome challenges. During the month of May, we look forward to celebrating your students’ accomplishments and growth with a variety of special events here at HCE.

End-of-year celebrations, at home, are also a wonderful opportunity to recognize achievements, build lasting memories, and celebrate each child’s unique growth. Whether it’s moving up to a new grade, reaching personal goals, or strengthening friendships, every success matters and deserves to be celebrated.

I encourage families to take time to reflect together on the past year. Ask your child what they are most proud of, what they learned, and what goals they have for the future. We are so excited to celebrate with your children, and we hope that you are too. Celebrating progress helps build confidence and motivation for the year ahead!

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, it is a wonderful time to celebrate the growth our students have made as readers. Their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to building strong reading habits have led to meaningful progress throughout the year.

This month our focus continues to be on helping students apply the reading strategies they have learned all year. Families can support this growth at home by encouraging 15-20 minutes of daily reading, asking questions about what their child is reading, and celebrating progress.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting literacy. Let’s finish the year strong and carry the joy of reading into summer!

Family Reading Tip:
Here are a few quick questions you can ask at home to help build comprehension:

· What is the story mostly about?

· What problem did the character face? Was the problem solved?

· Would you recommend this book? Why or why not?

· What is one thing you learned or found interesting?

· What vocabulary words were important or new to you?

· How does this connect to something you already know?

Parents, as we head into testing season, here are a few ways you can ensure your child is prepared and confident for their Math PM3:

  • Encourage your child to complete their nightly Math homework with full effort and work shown – reviewing previously learned content is crucial!
  • If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th graders, remind them to work on their ALEKS pie and complete at least 3 topics each week.
  • Make sure they’re getting plenty of sleep, going to bed early, and limiting their screen time, especially the night before a test.
  • A high-protein breakfast on test days will help sustain your child as they work hard to show what they know!
  • Focus on effort – encourage your child to do their best, show their work, and thoroughly check their work.

Thank you for all of your efforts and commitment to your child’s academic success this year!
