Dear Adventure Families,

When we return from Thanksgiving break, we'll have 3 more weeks until our Winter Break. It's hard to believe we're already preparing for fun winter celebrations at school! Read below for the calendar for our "December to Remember" special dress days (participate when you want to, no pressure!) as well as our Marmot Monopoly starting on December 15 (looking for lots of $5 gift cards to make this a success!). Also, mark your calendars for our K-4 Winter Music Concert on December 16 at 12:30 at the Mac.

Don't forget to periodically click on the "What is my student learning?" button right below this message; our grade level teams publish a new monthly newsletter going into each month. Most teams just published December's, so take a look!

Lastly, as we head into the Thanksgiving break, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your partnership and support. Our students thrive because of the strong, caring community we share—one that shows up for one another, celebrates growth, and works together to create a place where every child feels known and valued.

Thank you for trusting us with your children each day. It is an honor to be part of their learning and their lives. I hope the coming days bring your family rest, connection, and moments of joy.

Wishing you a wonderful and peaceful Thanksgiving break.

Go Marmots!

Sarah and Marisa

Marmot Monopoly COMING December 15! Marmot Monopoly COMING December 15!

We want to make a big effort this year to create an amazing Holiday Festival type feel for our campus during the last week of class before Winter Break (December 15-19). This is the type of thing that builds our community and enriches the imagination and experience for our students, and we know it’s important not to miss these opportunities.

To pull this off, we will be running a Holiday Monopoly themed game all week (it’s going to be a blast!), and we have a few ways we would love for parents to get involved too:

1. We need prizes for the students and staff. We have creative ideas and special privileges for many of the prizes, but we also need gift cards of all types. We are asking parents to consider donating a gift card of either $5 or $10 to be used as a prize. You can certainly do more cards, but we would rather have more cards than higher amounts. Cards to random or funny places are also welcome. Please drop them off at the office by December 10th.

2. Some of our planned prizes also include cookies, cake pops, rice crispy treats, and other tasty things. If you are able to help donate some of these, please email and let us know what you can bring so that we can build up our prize stash!

Thank you, everyone. This tradition of Holiday games and festivals is so important, and we appreciate everyone for helping us make this a special week for our school!

Candy Grams for Sale! Candy Grams for Sale!

Student Council's next fundraiser will be selling candy grams for $1. They will be sold from December 9th through the 15th, and delivered on Friday, December 19th. Money raised will be going to purchase gifts for young people living at the Third Way Center. You can find more information here.

In early December, we will have a limited supply of Marmot t-shirts for sale in the front office. If the shipping costs deterred you from ordering, we negotiated a deal with the vendor to sell them on-site. I'll send an email when they arrive, just in time for Christmas presents!

Dual Language Updates Dual Language Updates

Last week, four Adventure teachers, Ms. Sandstrom, Ms. Gaby, Ms. Montoya, and Ms. Shoemaker, had the opportunity to attend the La Cosecha Conference in New Mexico—one of the nation’s leading gatherings for bilingual and multicultural education. Teachers participated in workshops led by experts from across the country, exploring effective strategies to strengthen students’ language development in both English and Spanish. They learned new ways to build cultural connections in the classroom, support biliteracy growth, and enhance family engagement in our dual language community.

We are excited to bring these new ideas back to our school and continue growing a program that celebrates language, culture, and academic excellence for all students.

Extracurricular Club Schedule Extracurricular Club Schedule

Winter Clubs are almost here!

Our Winter session will begin the week of December 8th. A club roster will be sent out during the first week of December so you know which club your student is in.

Please remember:

  • Students may only miss up to two sessions. After that, their spot may be offered to another student.

  • On-time pick-up is required after each club session to continue participation.

We are excited for another great season of learning and fun!

Eye Love Care Eye Love Care

👓 EYE EXAMS & GLASSES COMING TO ADVENTURE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!

Eye Love Care is bringing a full-service optometry clinic to our school on December 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th offering comprehensive eye exams and eyewear to all students.

Their mission is simple: to ensure every child receives the vision care they need to succeed. If your child has insurance, it will be billed. If not, they’ll be fully covered through the No Vision Left Behind Program—no child will be left out.

✅ Why participate?

  • Even if your child has already seen an eye doctor this year, they can still enroll.

  • If glasses are lost or broken, Eye Love Care will replace them up to two times through the school.

  • Students can choose from over 150 stylish frames, with help from experienced staff to find the perfect fit.

  • Glasses are delivered directly to the school with an optician for proper fitting—no extra appointments needed.

  • Each student receives a folder with the optometrist’s report and, if applicable, a copy of their prescription.

🎓 Eye Love Care supports your child from Kindergarten through 12th grade. If glasses are lost or damaged during the school year or summer, simply contact the school nurse or email dylan@eyelovecare.com for a replacement. Glasses can be delivered to school or mailed home during breaks.

Get to know Mrs. Flores!

Mrs. Flores joined the Adventure Elementary staff six years ago as an intermediate teacher. She is originally from Chihuahua, México and moved to this neighborhood as a young girl. She graduated early from high school so she could attend Metropolitan State University, majoring in Spanish and earning an elementary teaching license. Mrs. Flores taught 3rd grade for several years and this year she teaches 4th grade.

Mrs. Flores chooses to work at Adventure because she grew up in this community and she wants students to have someone to connect with and to know they are capable of reaching their goals. She believes in the importance of connecting classroom learning to the real world, so she goes above and beyond to arrange for her students to have opportunities to participate in community projects and learn from guest speakers.

Mrs. Flores is a member of Adventure's Instructional Leadership Team and this year she is also coordinating our school's extracurricular club program. She is passionate about empowering students to believe in themselves and their full potential, particularly helping students learn English and find their love for learning!
