This Month and Next

Wow! September flew by. There were so many wonderful events and so much learning happening at Aspen Crossing. During September, we started Principal Chats with each grade level to discuss the value of Achieve, Care and Explore. We have read stories and watched videos aligned to these important values and your students have had so much to add to the discussion. We had picture day and everyone looked wonderful and Spirit Week for Eaglecrest's Homecoming. The entire Eaglecrest feeder family came together for fun and celebration. 2nd grade took CogAT and went to MIller Farms for an exciting day of fun on the farm. First through fifth graders showed what they know with beginning of the year Star assessments and although we were ALMOST rained out, the Carnival was so much fun. We brought everything inside and were a little wet but the students didn't seem to mind that the bouncy slide became a slip and slide.

October started today and there is a lot to look forward to this month. The Fun Run Kicked off on Monday with assembly fun that I'm sure your students shared with you. The 1st graders will head to Carson Nature Center this month and we will have picture retakes. We will host a Lockdown Drill this month and information about this will be coming home soon. The Donation Drive for October has begun to support those in need and we will have a fun Spirit Week before we head toward Conferences next month. Our Voices of Color Committee will meet this month and share some of the wonderful learning students have experienced this year. Trunk or Treat will round out October on the 30th. Look for more information as the date gets closer.

Seeing teachers teach and students learn every day is its own reward and the leadership, kindness and compassion I see daily makes me proud to lead such an amazing community. Also as you can see we have been rebranded and kept the legacy mark on Marty the Marmot. Aspen Crossing is a great place to be. It has been wonderful to get to know so many of you since the beginning of the school year and I'm excited to see you and meet more families as the year goes on.
