Closing out October 🎃

October is wrapping up with an exciting week of school spirit, community, and connection! 💙💛 We encourage all scholars to participate in our Red Ribbon Spirit Week as we promote healthy choices and celebrate living drug-free!

We're also looking forward to our Trunk or Treat celebration! 🎃 We're still accepting candy donations, and scholars who contribute will earn PBIS points! Plus, the grade level that donates the most candy by weight will win a week-long jeans pass! As an added treat, scholars who bring their signed report card to Trunk or Treat will receive a Free Dress Pass for November 2!

In support of Red Ribbon Week, we will also be facilitating a fentanyl prevention lesson for scholars with parental consent, helping students better understand the dangers of fentanyl and empowering them to make safe, informed decisions. Additionally, this week students will be taking important interim assessments and attendance is critical!

Thank you, families, for your continued partnership in making our school a place where scholars can learn, grow, and celebrate together. Let's finish October strong! 💙💛

Bat Family Highlights: Learning, Growing & Celebrating 🦇

It's been another wonderful week of learning and celebrating our scholars! Our seniors had an exciting opportunity to visit the UT School of Nursing, where they explored potential career pathways and participated in hands-on learning experiences. Meanwhile, our 8th graders were locked in and hard at work during a busy testing week, demonstrating focus and dedication to their academic goals!

We also celebrated our October Perfect Attendance winner, who earned tickets to House of Torment! 🎃 Congratulations on showing up and making every day count!

We love seeing our Bats explore new opportunities, work toward their goals, and celebrate their accomplishments.

Counselor Corner: Progress, Not Perfection: Celebrating Small Wins💙

Growth doesn't always happen in big, noticeable moments. Sometimes, it looks like a student asking for help, trying again after a setback, improving a grade, or choosing a different response to a challenging situation. These small victories matter!

As families reflect on report cards and academic progress, it's important to remember that a grade is a snapshot of performance, not a measure of a child's potential or worth. While we want to hold our scholars to high expectations, we also want to recognize the effort, persistence, and growth that happen along the way.

Try Shifting the Conversation at Home:

  • Instead of "Why isn't your grade higher?" try "What are you proud of improving, and where can we keep growing?"

  • Instead of "You need to try harder," try "What's one small step we can take to help you succeed?"

  • Instead of "You should know this by now," try "What have you learned from this experience?"

When we celebrate progress rather than expecting perfection, we help children develop confidence, resilience, and a willingness to keep trying, even when things get difficult.

This Week's Family Challenge: Ask your scholar to share one thing they're proud of and one area they'd like to grow in. Celebrate their progress, then identify one small, achievable step they can take this week.

Remember: Progress isn't always a straight line. What matters is that we keep learning, growing, and moving forward together. 💙💛

Celebrating our School Leader 🎉

In honor of Principal Appreciation Month, we are proud to recognize Dr. Gonzalez for his continued dedication and commitment to the Bluff Springs College Prep community.

His leadership is rooted in a deep commitment to our students, families, and staff. He prioritizes building meaningful relationships with students and families, creating strong partnerships that help our students thrive. His commitment extends to our teachers and staff, whom he continually supports, encourages, and challenges to grow.

At the heart of his leadership is a genuine belief in our community and what each person is capable of achieving. He holds our students and staff to a high standard because he believes in their ability to rise to the occasion, grow, and succeed.

We are grateful for the heart, dedication, and belief in others that Dr. Gonzalez brings to Bluff Springs each day. Thank you for all you do for our Bat community! 🦇

New Family Resource 💙

At IDEA Public Schools, we believe that supporting our students starts with supporting our families! We're excited to share our new Student Support Services Family Resource Website, designed to connect families with helpful information and resources in family engagement, mental health and crisis support, and school culture.

Whether you're looking for ways to stay involved in your child's education, support their emotional well-being, or learn more about creating a safe and welcoming school environment, this website is a great place to start!

We encourage all families to explore and bookmark this valuable resource!

Nurse's Corner 🦠

Hello 👋from the Nurse . Please be vigilant about not sending your student to school sick and/or with a fever. If they have a fever greater than 100 they will go home. If they had a fever the night before and you give them medication … they still have a fever and need to be out for 24 hours. We are a small nurses clinic not a Doctor’s office . That being said , we are limited on what we can do . We have a few over the counter meds that we are allowed to give. Also please do not pick up your student unless you hear from one of the nurses. The students are calling you guys without being seen first. This is for safety and if we all work together we can maintain a happy and healthy environment. Thanks for all you do parents .

❤️Ms. Tammy
