From the Principal's pen...

Patriot Families,

What a way to close out the last full week in September! Check out the button below and like our Facebook page! There were tons of photos of our Grandfriend's that we like to share, or just view the video above! We are so thankful for everyone that came out, volunteered, purchased books and made it a day to remember! As we close out September, we have a new habit focus for the month of October. Next month we will focus on Habit #2: Begin with the End in Mind. This habit is intentional about having a vision, with planning and a purpose. Talk with you Leaders at home about the important of planning and goal setting. Our beginning of the year data has been collected and we have goals to meet!

Thanks again for another great week! Mark your calendars for College Colors day and our next spirit night at Chuck E Cheese next Friday, October 4th!

Also, if you have not joined our wonderful PTA, you can do so by clicking on this link: jackpta.com. We met our August goal and are shooting for the next one!

Have a great weekend!

Brett Shelby

Parents and Friends:

Our number one priority is the safety of the 700 plus students who attend Jack Elementary. During pickup and drop off times the safety of ALL our students should be in the forefront of our minds. As a reminder, the Texas Transportation Code Sec. 545.425 and 545.4251 Prohibits the use of a Wireless Communication Device in a School Zone unless the vehicle is stopped or the wireless communication device is used with a “hands-free Device”. This means the cell phone can not be in your hands while your vehicle is moving. This also includes “texting while driving”. School Zones include Blue Mountain Blvd beyond the yellow flashing school zone sign as well as the streets which border the school including Manassas Ln., Rocky Mountain Lane, Rockpoint Ln., Balsam Gap, and of course the school zone on Cumberland Road. We also ask that you reduce your speed and be increasingly aware while moving through the pickup and drop off lines in the front drive, the bus loop, as well as the surrounding streets. We have observed some parents operating at unsafe speeds in these areas.

In addition, the City of Tyler has prohibited left turns onto Manassas Ln. from the front drive during school days between the hours of 7:00 am-8:30 am and 2:30 pm-4:00 pm as per the signs posted and when the left turn only lane is blocked off. It only takes a few extra moments to circle the block. These signs and restrictions were put into place for the safety of YOUR children.

Thank you for your partnership in our continued efforts to receive each child safely at the beginning of the day and return them to you safely at the end of each day.
