A Message from Mr. Dolce
Hello South Davis Families.
On behalf of all of the staff at South Davis, I want to thank you for being partners with us as we helped your children along their educational journey. For those families moving on to another school next year, we hope South Davis will remain a fond memory for you. And for those returning next year, we look forward to welcoming you back on September 2.
Have a great summer!
Mr. Dolce

Updates and Reminders
Last week's Checkers the Inventor End-of-the-Year Celebration Assemblies were a great success. Checkers was very entertaining and engaging, and reminded all of us to SHINE for ourselves and others every day.
Changes to Start Time for 2026-27
While next year is still three months away, here's a reminder that the elementary start and end times are changing. School will begin at 9:10 and end at 3:15. Dismissal will begin around 3:20.
School Supply List - 2026-27
The School Supply List for next year is now available. We will again use School Tool Box, where you can purchase grade level supplies, boxed up and delivered to your home.
Selecting the Right Backpack
The OT/PT team has developed a good resource to help families purchase the right backpack for your children. You'll find proper fitting guidelines, helpful tips, and other information to make the selection process easier.
PTO Connections
Thank you!
Thank you families for all of your support of the PTO this year! Your participation in activities, your continuing financial support, and sharing of your time and talents helped make this school year a fun and memorable one for your children. Special thanks to the PTO officers for their hours of volunteering to make things possible.
Look ahead to next year, the list of activities and events gives a sense of what to expect as well as how much the events cost.
You can Save the Date for the first ever South Drive Family Golf Day, on Saturday, August 22. More details below.
Also, mark your calendar for the first PTO Meeting of the year, on Thursday, September 10.
Connecting With Our Community
Independence Day Parade
If you are looking for something to do on July 4 this year, how about march in the Orchard Park Independence Day parade?
Thank You!
Thank you for everyone's support with this last food drive!
From the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church...
We are so very thankful for the generous donations brought today from South Davis Elementary! Our shelves were extremely low up until your drop off!
Please convey our church’s heartfelt thanks for organizing such a successful food drive at the very end of the school year, which I know, as a former school administrator, is NOT an easy time to do it!
Have a great summer!
With sincerest appreciation,
Liz Angelbeck, Volunteer Coordinator,

Free Literacy Opportunity
Senator Gallivan's 2026 Summer Reading Program, "Unearth Your Story," encourages students to continue reading throughout the summer and helps prevent the summer slide. Students can log their reading at www.nyread.com and, upon completion, will receive an official Summer Reading Certificate.
We know that maintaining reading habits over the summer helps children strengthen vocabulary, build knowledge, and return to school ready to learn. Even a few minutes of reading each day can make a meaningful difference.
How It Works:
Students can visit www.nyread.com to log their summer reading progress.
Those who submit their completed reading form by August 21, 2026, will receive an official Summer Reading Certificate in recognition of their dedication and achievement.
Leashes of Love Update
The Leashes of Love Community Service Project community outreach day was able to serve 318 dogs with new collars and/or leashes. South Davis changed a small part of the world! The dogs say, "Thank you!"
Ride for Roswell
A number of South Davis staff and families are riding again this year in honor or memory of family, friends, and former colleagues. Staff and/or families riding include Mrs. Whitney, Mrs. Martorana, Mrs. Washburn, and Mr. Dolce (I'm riding 100 miles!). If you are also riding, please let us know so we can look for you and cheer you on. If you want me to add a name to my honor roll as I ride, email Mr. Dolce.
If you are interested in supporting the effort of the Ride for Roswell, you can look up riders and donate.
