Happy 2020!
It sounds so cliche', but it's hard to believe it's already January! The first months of this school year may have flown by, but there is always time to slow down in order to celebrate the good stuff! Together, we have accomplished some wonderful things at Harvey-Swanson so far this year:
- Over 100 students have received Student of the Week Awards for being excellent examples and showing other people matter .
- Our Student Council team, led by Mrs. Long, began overseeing recycling for our school.
- At least 20 fifth graders serving on our Safety team, led by Mrs. Mulligan, spent their free time (recess and breaks) helping our kindergartners in the lunch room and at recess.
- Many fifth grade safeties began learning how to help students problem solve and engaged in peer mediation.
- Thanks to our PTA, all of our students were able to enjoy the Winter Wonderland again this year.
- Over 400 family members attended our JK-2nd grade sing along! The students and teachers worked so hard to make this wonderful experience possible. It was a great way to end 2019!

Positivity Project- P2
This week we will focus on the character strength optimism. Click here for more information.
What it is... People who are optimistic have a positive outlook on the future and are confident that they will reach their goals. They tend to be able to overcome setbacks and obstacles and keep a positive attitude.
Why it matters... Obstacles and setbacks are a regular part of our students' lives. When they practice optimism, it helps them work through difficulties which ultimately helps them succeed.
