SUPERINTENDENT & PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear GLTS Students, Parents, and Caregivers,

The 2026-2027 school year is off to a wonderful start. We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful autumn weather. The hallways remain alive with energy, and we are so proud of how quickly everyone is settling into their daily routines.

As promised in our previous update, we want to share the core themes from our recent grade-level assemblies. Last week, Principal Jackson met with all four classes to discuss our expectations and goals for the year ahead.

Building Professional Habits

A major focus for all students is establishing the daily discipline of a professional. We emphasized the importance of being present, on time, and ready to learn by 7:42 AM. This simple habit is the foundation for success in both our classrooms and future careers.

Making Healthy Decisions

We also had an honest conversation about healthy choices and the nationwide vaping epidemic. We want our families to be aware of the key points discussed with your students:

Zero Tolerance: Tobacco and THC vapes are strictly prohibited at GLTS. Getting caught with a THC vape will result in an expulsion hearing. This puts a student's enrollment, co-op eligibility, and future opportunities at severe risk.
Safety Measures: We utilize security cameras throughout the school and vape detectors in our bathrooms to keep our community safe.
Student Support: Our primary goal is to help our students make positive changes. Anyone needing support with nicotine or addiction is strongly encouraged to visit our health office or speak with a school counselor.
Peer Pressure: We reminded students that they are expected to know right from wrong and encouraged them to make thoughtful, positive decisions. If they are ever in a tough spot, they can certainly use the school or administration as an excuse to avoid making a bad decision. We have a talented support staff with school counselors and social workers who are available to assist them in navigating different social challenges.

Grade-Level Milestones

Each class is at a unique point in their journey. We challenged our seniors to define a legacy of leadership and character. Juniors are focused on building momentum for co-op opportunities, while sophomores are digging in to master the core skills of their trades. Finally, we officially welcomed our freshmen to the Reggie family and encouraged them to get involved in our community.

A strong environment at school is always most effective when paired with alignment at home. We appreciate your ongoing dedication to helping your students arrive focused and ready to learn each day. Please see the remainder of our newsletter below.

Health Assisting and Medical Assisting

Our 11th- and 12th-grade Health Assisting and Medical Assisting students are thriving in their new learning environment at Northern Essex Community College (NECC). Teachers and students are taking advantage of NECC’s state-of-the-art simulation labs, where they can practice and strengthen their clinical skills. Beyond the classroom, students also had the opportunity to attend NECC’s Student Life Fair, giving them a chance to experience college life and explore the resources and opportunities available on campus. This partnership continues to provide our students with meaningful experiences that connect career and technical education with college and career readiness.

Our After Dark program has started with a lot of enthusiasm. Seniors are leading the way with confidence as our Juniors are learning the ropes of a new GLTS experience. WIth the ongoing support of their instructors, we are excitedly anticipating everyone’s growth and development as they learn new skills in a structured environment.

Wage Reimbursement for Clean Energy Employers

It is inspiring to see how Mac Clark’s work with the wage reimbursement benefit is directly driving success for GLTS graduates and local employers alike. Expanding connections with companies across HVAC, auto tech, plumbing, and electrical. Companies like Breen & Sullivan, EDGE Automation, Leo & Sons, Excellence and EarthTech Systems are committed to clean energy solutions and are building a partnership that will enable our students to work in a vital field.

Having a Class of 2026 graduate actively pitch the program during their own job search highlights just how effective this student outreach has been. That graduate not only secured their own role but also opened the door for future GLTS students by prompting the employer to connect directly with Mac.

With momentum building among both businesses and students, this is set to be a standout year for the growth of the clean energy employment initiative!

Traffic and Drop-Off Safety Reminder: North Street

As we settle into the school year, we want to remind all families, student drivers, and staff to remain vigilant and courteous during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal.

We have received reports of vehicles making illegal U-turns and traveling through restricted areas on North Street to access campus. This area includes active crosswalks, pedestrian traffic, and a school bus stop. Disregarding posted traffic signs puts our students, neighbors, and community members in direct harm's way.

Important Safety Guidelines

Respect Posted Signage: Do not make U-turns on North Street, and strictly obey all "No U-Turn" and "Do Not Enter" signs.
Protect Crosswalks and Bus Stops: Drive slowly, stay alert, and yield to pedestrians and students boarding or exiting buses.
Expect Traffic Enforcement: Officer Mini and the Andover Police Department traffic team are actively monitoring North Street during peak arrival and dismissal hours to enforce traffic laws.
Follow Standard Campus Routes: Please utilize designated campus drop-off and pick-up lines rather than cutting through neighboring streets.

Thank you for your immediate cooperation in keeping our school zone safe for everyone.

GLTS now has a school app that puts everything in one place. You can check the school calendar for upcoming events, find the daily bell schedule, see what’s for lunch, and explore clubs and activities. The app also makes it easy to stay connected with athletics—buying tickets for games, finding coaches’ contact information, and accessing team resources. You can read the latest Reggie Happenings newsletter, look through past issues, and quickly find helpful links like bus routes, scholarship information, transcript requests, and GLTS social media. Download the GLTS app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to stay connected and up to date.
