SEPTEMBER 8, 2023

It's already Friday! I hope that you enjoyed your extended weekend with your family! Here are a few important things for the upcoming week:

  • SMILE....IT'S PICTURE DAY! Fall picture day will be Tuesday, September 12th. Purchasing information has already been distributed to families.

  • PTA MEETINGS: Our PTA Board is excited to engage with you at our FIRST PTA meeting of the school year. Our meeting is schedule on September 13th at 6:00 pm in our Media Center.

  • BUS CHANGES: Our Transportation Department has made minor adjustments to two of our bus routes. Effective September 11, 2023, students who were previously routed for Brown Owl will now be riding Bus 4772 Green Frog. Similarly, scholars who were assigned to Orange Tiger will now be riding Bus 4052. All parents were already alerted of the change through the Transportation Department. Please contact our Supervisor, Ms. Henderson if you have any questions or concerns at hendersonc1@fultonschools.org .

  • 4.5 WEEK PROGRESS REPORTS: Did you know our first 4.5 week progress report will post Wednesday, September 13th? Progress reports will be accessible via the Parent and Student Portal in Infinite Campus. Progress reports are posted every 4.5 this school year. If you have questions pertaining your child's grades or academic progress, please contact your child's teacher. If you haven't already done so, please take some time to review FCS Grades Reporting Policy:
    GRADES & REPORTING
    ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GRADING
    FCS RECOVERY POLICY

Haven't registered for your account yet? REGISTER TODAY! Everything you need as a parent is contained in the parent portal. • SUICIDE PREVENTION: According to the CDC, suicide is among the leading causes of death for people ages 10-66 and is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10-14.

During the month of September, we are dedicated to teaching students to ACT- Acknowledge, Care and Tell. Knowing the signs of suicide, understanding the importance of practicing self-care or showing a friend you care, and understanding when to tell are all the first steps to saving a life. CLICK HERE for Suicide Prevention & Awareness Resources.

  • INTRUDER DRILL: Today in compliance with the Georgia Safe Schools Act, we conducted an Intruder Alert Drill in all elementary schools in Fulton County Schools. The drills are designed to familiarize our students, staff, and community with ways to protect and prepare against a potential threat posed by an armed intruder. Teachers prepared students for this drill prior the actual drill occurring. All parents/guardians received an email from me at 12:00 pm today pertaining the drill.

Have a great weekend!

ADVANCED STUDIES/TAG DEPARTMENT ADVANCED STUDIES/TAG DEPARTMENT

The consideration for gifted services may be reported or automatic as defined by the GaDOE Resource Manual for Gifted Education Services. The Fulton County School System screens all students for eligibility for gifted services twice a year and uses a systematic approach to identify highly capable students who may qualify for gifted services. The gifted teacher routinely reviews available data to refer students for further assessment. Students meeting either the automatic screening OR the classroom screening criteria AND who have supporting data gathered from test history, products, and/or advanced content levels are referred for additional testing to determine gifted eligibility.
