Butler Cell Phone/SMART Watch/Personal Device Policy

When in school, personal student cell phone/SMART Watch/device usage are to be silenced and remain in backpacks during the school day. In some instances, students need their device to monitor health status through each day, and this will remain in place. However, should there be a need for any student/home communication, it will take place with the support of the teacher/school office during the school day. These district expectations have been shared with students, and we appreciate your support with your children as we navigate each school day.

School District Playgrounds - Public Announcement (Before/After School Timing)

Please Review the Below Statement from our CBSD Operations Department:

During school operating hours (7:00 AM - 6:00 PM), please note that members of the public are not permitted to enter school grounds to use district facilities. Specifically, Butler Community School (Before and After-School Programs) have first priority in using school facilities - including all playgrounds. Items with PTO organizations or community groups programs may complete facility use forms to adjust for events/schedules. Of note, the closed areas during school hours and after-school events include all playgrounds at our elementary schools where students and programs may be present.

Book Fair purchases can be made with cash, checks made payable to Butler PTO, or eWallet. For parents who are able to be present during your child's scheduled time, a credit card is also an option (must be the credit card itself, not only the numbers – parent signature required for transaction).

Sign up now for eWallet here!! REMEMBER - eWallet is now like a gift card and all funds stay on the eWallet and can be used at the next fair or at the online book fair. Each student needs their own eWallet account.

Author, Lynne Kelly - Visits Butler Intermediate Students - 10/10

On Friday, October 10, our fourth through sixth grade students had the exciting opportunity to meet Lynne Kelly, an award-winning and USA Today best-selling author. Ms. Kelly is known for her engaging novels such as Song for a Whale, The Secret Language of Birds, and Chained. During her presentation, Ms. Kelly shared details about her writing process and how she develops her ideas, plans her stories, and revises her drafts. She explained how thorough research helps her accurately portray the behaviors, environments, and unique qualities of the creatures she writes about. Fire Prevention Visit - Butler Visit - 10/14/25

On Tuesday, October 14th, the Chalfont Fire Department visited Butler Elementary to speak with students in grades K–4 about fire safety. Firefighters shared important safety tips and demonstrated how to respond in case of a fire emergency. They also wore their full protective gear to help children become familiar with what firefighters look like during a rescue. The visit was both educational and reassuring, helping our young learners feel more confident and prepared. Thanks to the Chalfont Fire Department for their guidance during Fire Prevention Month!

Girl Scouts Bronze Award Beautifies Butler Elementary: New Ashley's Woods Picnic Table

The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can earn. Six of the 2024-2025 Juniors of Troop 252 earned their Bronze Award this past scouting year. Charlee, Eloise, Kayla, Maeve, Marni, and Martyna collectively put in over 1000 hours on this project. These Butler girls worked as a team to replace the picnic bench in Ashley’s Woods that was destroyed in a storm. They chose the teal green color to match the Junior green vest and painted pansies on the tabletop as that is the crest of Troop 252. A Tic Tac Toe board was also painted on the top and the girls hope people will find leaves, pinecones, acorns, or other pieces of nature for use in play. The Girl Scout Brownies and remaining Juniors of Troop 252 supported them in their endeavor to achieve this award!

Thank you to Wehrung’s Hardware store for their generous donation of the picnic table! Thank you to Austin Brigg’s Paint store on Butler Pike for the discounts and support provided for this project. Thank you, Mr. Funseth, Mrs. Dowd, and Mrs. Brevic for your support in helping to complete this project!
