Dear Eastside Families,

It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into November! The fall season was full of learning, engagement, and celebration at Eastside Elementary. Our STEAM & GLOW Family Night drew over 400 attendees, and the energy and excitement throughout the evening were incredible! We also launched three new Classroom 2 Career partnerships in October—Kindergarten with Community Helpers, 1st Grade with Pollen Landscapes, and 5th Grade with Park County Search and Rescue. These experiences help students see how their learning connects to the world around them. Please see THIS article from the Powell Tribune which highlights some of this work.

I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped make October such a memorable month, particularly those parents who volunteered time on 10/29, 10/30, and/or 11/1 to finish the two new playgrounds. Because of our parent volunteers, our playgrounds are opening to our students, and to the public.

As we move into November, here’s what’s coming up:

  • November 6 – PTK Meeting, 3:30 PM

  • November 11 – Veterans Day Program

  • November 14 – End of 1st Trimester

  • November 21 – SOAR Assembly, 12:35 PM

  • November 24–28 – No School (Thanksgiving Break)

As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to thank you for your continued partnership and support. Two years ago, Eastside was under consideration for a National Blue Ribbon. Last year, we improved achievement across the board in Math, Reading, and Science. Eastside is a high performing school because of our diligent scholars, our dedicated staff, and our supportive families working together. We SOAR together!

Go Eagles!

Joseff J. B. Smith
