Specials

Art- I am thrilled to return for another week of art-making with the Harp Hawks after Labor Day weekend! This week, we will focus on creating our own self-portraits using a variety of techniques and art media. We will also learn how to take care of the materials and understand more about classroom procedures. During this self-portrait project, we will explore the work of Frida Kahlo, a renowned Mexican artist famous for her exceptional painting skills and vibrant self-portraits.

Library -

We hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! Our kindergarten students are learning about the parts of a book and reading Monster and Mouse Go Camping. First Grade is continuing their Aaron Blabey author study. We will read Thelma the Unicorn and compare it to Pig the Pug.

Second grade students are starting a Drew Daywalt author study. We are reading Sleepy, the Goodnight Buddy and looking for character traits. This book is always a favorite!

Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students are learning about our audiobook collection. These are amazing resources that let books come to life, and help students engage with literature. They are also expensive and require safe care. Students will have to have signed permission slips to check out these books. We want families to understand that the replacement cost is between $50-$70.

Music

Kindergarten and first grade are continuing to learn about steady beat. This week we will discuss the four voice types - whisper, talk, shout and sing!

Second and fifth grade are continuing to practice for our programs that are coming up soon! Second grade speaking parts will go home this week. Make sure they are practicing their lines at home.

Third and fourth graders are learning to play the ukulele. This week we will learn individual notes and soon we will start learning chords and songs.

P.E.

This week we will be going over Underhand Throwing and we will be doing a health lesson over Personal Hygiene. Please make sure your child wears some kind of athletic/tennis shoes on PE days and comes dressed in clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for physical activity.

Leeremos Thelma the Unicorn y lo compararemos con Pig the Pug.
