Panther Update Family Edition #4
August 28, 2026

A Note From the Principal
We are excited to participate in the district-wide Turnover Hunger Food Drive, September 1–11! A donation bin is available in our HIJH front office, and our grade level is collecting CHOMPS mini sticks, applesauce pouches, and individual dried fruit. Every donation helps support local students and families, and we appreciate our Panther community joining in. More information about the food drive is included below in the newsletter.
Congratulations to all of our Panther athletes on a very successful week! We are proud of the way our students continue to represent HIJH both in competition and beyond.
And a huge thank you to our HIJH PTO for hosting such a successful Panther Tailgate! Students enjoyed a variety of activities, beautiful weather, and a great evening together under the HIJH skies. We are incredibly grateful for everything our PTO does to create special experiences for our kids. Thank you for all you do! 💙

Camp Tecumseh
Calling all 7th grade Dads, we are still in need of cabin dads for our upcoming trip to Camp Tecumseh.
We cannot pull this trip off each year without amazing cabin dads! This is an amazing opportunity to share a unique experience with your child in beautiful Brookston, Indiana.
The dates for our trip are Wednesday, October 28th-Friday, October 30th. If you are interested in being a cabin dad, please reach out to Nick Hibner at nhibner@hse.k12.in.us for more information. Thank you!
Car Rider Families
Attention Car Rider Families:
Please remember that the car rider entrance and exit are right turn only.
All vehicles must turn right when entering the school and right again when exiting.
Thank you for helping keep traffic moving safely and efficiently!
Clinic Minutes
Now that we are all gathered together for another great school year, this is when we see an increase in coughs and colds. Please remind your student to:
Wash hands often, especially after coughing, sneezing and using the bathroom
Cough or sneeze in the crook of their arm and not their hands
If they do cough/sneeze in their hand, please wash them immediately or use hand sanitizer
PLEASE complete your student's health card on Skyward. Go to your Skyward account and click on the tile reading "Student Health Card". Completing this ensures your student gets the best care possible and keeps them in school to learn.
Food Drive
🏈 Turnover Hunger: Help Us Tackle Food Insecurity!
As we gear up for the annual Mudsock football game, all 22 HSE schools are teaming up to tackle hunger! Through Turnover Hunger, HSEF and Fishers Youth Initiative (FYI) are collecting targeted food donations to support local HSE students and families experiencing food insecurity.
From September 1–11, students and staff can bring in the suggested food item for their grade level—or use the QR code on the attached graphic to purchase items directly through Amazon for delivery to FYI. Together, HSE schools have already collected 94,998 snack items through Turnover Hunger—and we’re ready to make this year our biggest drive yet!
Let’s fill the shelves, support our community, and score a big win against hunger! 🏈🥫

WASSON MUM SALE
Let's get ready for fall! Our HIJH PTO has partnered with Wasson's Nursery for a fall mum fundraiser.
All orders are due by Tuesday, September 1st.
All mums are $13 each.
Each plant is 9" and comes in a variety of colors (lavender/purple, white, yellow/gold, orange/rust, red/burgundy and pink).
Pick up is at Wasson's Nursery (13279 E. 126th Street Fishers, IN 46037) on Wednesday, September 9th between 4pm-6pm. Pick up couldn't be easier! All orders can be picked up by simply driving up to the designated pick up area, give them your name and all mums will be loaded into your car by our HIJH volunteers.
NEW! Send a mum to a staff member! Let us do all the work. Pick your color mum and include a message in the comments. One of our HIJH PTO members will deliver straight to the classroom.
Share this with your family, friends and neighbors. You do not need to be an HIJH family to participate. For questions, please email hijhpto@gmail.com.
***All mums left at the end of Wednesday pick up window will be donated if other arrangements were not made with the HIJH PTO for alternative pick up or delivery.
