The corporation pledges to provide such programs as well as experiences emphasizing social, physical, emotional, and vocational well being. A Message From Our Superintendent
It is truly an honor to serve as Superintendent of Westview School Corporation. From my very first days here, I have felt the warmth, pride, and strong sense of community that make Westview such a special place. Thank you for the kind welcome and for embracing me and my family as part of the Warrior community.
As part of my Listen and Learn Tour, I have been intentionally meeting with our Board members, central office administrators, and building principals to gain a deeper understanding of Westview’s current landscape. A Listen and Learn Tour is a purposeful opportunity for a new leader to learn before leading, to hear directly from those who know the organization best. It is designed to build trust, strengthen relationships, and ensure that future decisions are grounded in shared understanding and authentic input. I firmly believe leadership begins with listening, and this process allows me to honor the strong work already happening while thoughtfully preparing for what comes next.
I am now visiting each building and sitting down with individual staff members and teams to continue those conversations. By focusing on our current state, exchanging ideas, and listening with purpose, we are laying the groundwork to plan intentionally for the future. I am deeply grateful for the openness, honesty, and dedication I continue to see across our schools, and I look forward to continuing these meaningful conversations with our Westview community.
Throughout my journey in public education, I have learned that the strongest schools are built on servant leadership and meaningful relationships. The best systems consistently deliver on three promises: academic excellence, safe and nurturing learning environments, and strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community. These values guide every decision I make.
Leadership begins with service. Over the past month, I have focused on listening, building trust, and learning from our students, staff, and community. I am committed to honoring Westview’s proud traditions while thoughtfully preparing for the future. I lead to ensure every teacher is supported, every family feels valued, and every student leaves our schools with confidence, purpose, and hope.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your belief in our schools. Together, we will continue building a future of excellence for every Westview Warrior.

From the Desk of Our Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
At Westview, we are proud of the hard work our students and staff have shown as we officially wrap up WIDA testing. Our students gave their best effort demonstrating their growth in English language development, and we appreciate the focus and determination they brought each day.
Now, we shift into our next round of assessments. Elementary students will begin IREAD testing, which measures foundational literacy skills and ensures students are on track in reading proficiency. At the high school level, our juniors will take the SAT, an important assessment that supports college and career readiness.
We are confident in our students and grateful for the continued partnership of our families as we support every learner’s success. Let’s finish this testing season strong, Westview!
Supporting Every Learner: A Note from Special Services
Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Nikki Barker
We are proud to highlight Mrs. Nikki Barker, our fifth grade special education teacher, who has committed 31 years to our Westview family. For 3 decades she has poured her heart into serving students and families with compassion, dedication and unwavering care.
Mrs. Barker believes deeply in the power of collaboration, bringing together students, staff, families, and the community to create meaningful learning experiences. She is especially passionate about helping students overcome the barriers that may stand in their way of success. Whether working in an inclusion classroom or resource room, she has supported students in reading, writing, math and social skills, always meeting them where they are and encouraging them forward.
We are so grateful for Mrs. Barker‘s 31 years of service, her kind heart, and the difference she makes in the lives of our students every single day.

Harvest of the Month: Cultivating Healthy Choices
For the last 5 years, Westview has been partnering with Parkview-Lagrange in a program called Harvest of the Month. At the beginning of the year, the teachers can sign up to participate in the program. Then, Parkview Lagrange sources local produce each month & delivers it to the classrooms along with educational materials to use with their students. Westview participation is amazing and we've had great feedback. For the 25-26 school year, we have 26 teachers participating, which includes 632 students. The most common feedback that we hear from the teachers is that often the students are trying something different and surprise themselves by actually liking it! We love supporting local & introducing our students to fun, fresh, farm to school produce!
Westview Schools in Action
Topeka Elementary
The NED Show recently visited, and our TES Bears are excited to put NED’s Rules for Success into action! Students were inspired to remember three powerful reminders: Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. We are proud of our Bears for embracing these positive habits and living them out each day at school.
Meadowview Elementary
Our Mustangs had a wonderful time celebrating Kindness Week this month! Students explored the “Power of One” and learned how a single act of kindness can create a ripple effect, positively impacting others in meaningful ways. It was inspiring to see our students embracing compassion and encouragement as they continue spreading kindness throughout our school community.
Shipshewana-Scott Elementary
Fourth grade students as SES had an incredible experience exploring the Kalamazoo Air Zoo this month! From historic aircraft to hands-on flight simulators, students immersed themselves in the science of aviation and space through engaging, interactive exhibits. We are so proud of their curiosity, enthusiasm, and outstanding behavior throughout the trip. It was truly a fantastic day of learning beyond the classroom walls!
Westview Elementary School
We are proud to celebrate the Westview Elementary Science Fair this year! Our students demonstrated incredible creativity, critical thinking, and dedication as they explored scientific questions and showcased their learning. A special congratulations to our 2026 Science Fair 1st Place Winner! We are so proud of your hard work and achievement! Thank you to all of our participants for making this year’s Science Fair a wonderful success.
Westview Junior/Senior High School
Earlier this month, Westview High School proudly recognized students for their outstanding cumulative academic achievements. This honor included 36 freshmen who earned a 3.67 GPA in their first semester of high school, 33 sophomores recognized after three semesters, 34 juniors after five semesters, and 29 seniors after seven semesters of dedication and hard work.
We are incredibly proud of these Warriors for their commitment to excellence and their consistent high levels of achievement in the classroom. Keep striving and setting the standard for success!
Staff Appreciation Shout Out!
This month, we are proud to celebrate two incredible groups of professionals who help make our district exceptional, our School Resource Officers and our School Counselors. These dedicated individuals go above and beyond each day to ensure our schools are safe, supportive, and student-centered.
Our SROs build positive relationships while helping maintain secure learning environments, and our counselors provide guidance, encouragement, and advocacy for students at every stage of their journey. We are truly blessed with the best, and we are grateful for the care, commitment, and heart they bring to Westview every single day.
Community Strong: Upcoming Fundraising Events
Westview may be made up of multiple schools, but we are one unified community when it comes to supporting our students. Time and time again, our families, staff, and community members come together as one to cheer on, lift up, and invest in our schools. Below are a few upcoming fundraisers happening across the district. We invite you to come out and support our schools because when one Warrior succeeds, we all succeed.
Upcoming School Board Meeting
Our next Westview School Board meeting will be held on March 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Westview Administration Building.
We welcome members of our community to attend and stay engaged in the important work happening across our schools. Your partnership and involvement matter, and we are grateful for your continued support of Westview.
