Academy of Computer Science and Engineering Weekly
Week of 12/21 - 1/3/26
Half Day - Tuesday 12/23
Message from the Principal
Good Afternoon CompSci High Families,
Last week was a great one at CompSci High. Our Chorus and Band sounded fantastic at Wednesday night’s concert, both our Boys and Girls Basketball teams kicked off their seasons on a positive note, and our Robotics team is hard at work preparing for their upcoming meet on January 10th. Across the building, students are staying focused and working hard as we approach the end of the second quarter and prepare for midterms.
This week is a short one, with only one and a half days of school. Tuesday is a half day, and we are excited to welcome back CompSci High alumni who will be speaking with our seniors during the day.
When we return from break on Wednesday, January 7th, students will have one week to finish up work and prepare for midterms, which begin on Friday, January 16th. This will be an important and focused stretch, and we encourage families to help students stay organized and on track.
We would like to wish all of our families a safe, restful, and enjoyable winter break. We hope this time allows everyone to recharge and spend meaningful time with family and friends. From all of us at CompSci High, thank you for allowing us to work with your student. We are excited for what’s ahead and look forward to an amazing 2026.
Warmly,
Mr. Carter

Weather Delays and Closures explained
As we get into the time of year that we see winter weather, we wanted to provide some clarification for delays and closures.
DELAYS:
- If your town has a delay, your student's bus will be delayed by the amount of time your town is delayed. Example: East Hartford Delays 2 hours and your bus time is normally 6:45 - Your student will now have a bus at 8:45
- Enfield Delays, CompSci High will have a delay as well and all students and buses will run on the delayed schedule.
- Some buses have multiple towns on it, for example, Bus 2174 Somers/East Windsor/Windsor Locks share a bus. If one of those three towns has a delay, the entire bus will have a delay and therefore your student will go to the bus stop at the delayed timeframe. We are looking to provide better communication when this happens.
Other Buses that share multiple towns:
2176 - Hartford/East Hartford/Glastonbury
2170 - Suffield/Windsor/Bloomfield
2171 - Harwington/Bristol
2167 - Farmington/West Hartford/ Hartford
2168 - Vernon/Ellington/Tolland
2166 - East Hampton/Rocky Hill/Wethersfield/Newington
2164 - Southington/New Britain/Middletown
CLOSURES:
- Enfield closes for the day, CompSci High will be closed.
- At times, CREC will call a Closure and all CREC schools will be closed, meaning CompSci High will be closed, even if your town does not close.
- If your town has a closure but CompSci High still has school, NO BUS will run to your town due to your town having closed schools. It would be on a parent to get a student to and from school.
- If your student rides a bus that picks up in multiple towns like Tolland, Vernon, Somers, and for example Tolland closes, the bus will run as regular for Vernon and Somers, with not bus stops happening in Tolland.
We thank you for your flexibility with this and we will work to provide communication beyond what CREC Transportation provides. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Important Reminder - No Food Sales at School
As a reminder, students are not allowed to sell food of any kind at school. This includes both packaged and homemade foods. The school cannot allow these sales for various including concerns around allergies, disruption, and nutritional laws that all schools must adhere to. Please remind your student that this is not allowed and will result in items being confiscated and potential behavioral consequences.

Important Parent Reminder- Please Read - Athletics – 24-Hour Rule
As part of our commitment to a positive and respectful athletic experience, we follow the 24-Hour Rule for all athletic programs. This means that parents and family members should not approach coaches within 24 hours of a game to discuss concerns or frustrations. This includes topics such as playing time, strategy, other players, or the outcome or performance of the team.
If concerns do arise, student-athletes should take the lead by scheduling a meeting with their coach. If, after that meeting, concerns remain, families may request a meeting that includes the coach, the Athletic Director, and the player.
If communication with a coach is necessary, it should be done through email and never directly after a game. We appreciate your partnership in helping us ensure our athletics program is built on sportsmanship, respect, and student growth.
