Happy Friday, Wildcat Families! 💙🐾

As we look ahead to the next few weeks, our students will have several exciting field trips, and we will need parent and family volunteers to join us as chaperones!

If you are interested in volunteering for a field trip, please begin the PGCPS volunteer approval process now, as background clearances should be initiated at least 15 business days before the volunteer activity.

To become an approved PGCPS volunteer/chaperone, families must:

Complete the PGCPS online volunteer application. This must be renewed each school year.
Complete fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) clearance. This is required for new volunteers and field trip chaperones.
Complete the required SafeSchools training modules for the current school year.

Returning volunteers who have already completed fingerprinting generally do not need to be fingerprinted again, but they must renew their volunteer application and complete SafeSchools training each school year.

➡️ PGCPS Volunteer Registration & Information

Please do not wait until the week of a field trip to begin the process. We would love to have more of our Wildcat families join us on these special learning experiences!

📅 This Upcoming Week

🥁 Thursday – Special Author Visit & Bomba Experience

We are excited to welcome Isha M. Renta López, author of Sofia and Her Bomba Drum, along with musicians from Semilla Cultural! Students will participate in an engaging and interactive reading of the book while learning about the music and movement of Bomba.

Students will have the opportunity to learn basic Bomba rhythms, clap and move to live drumming, create music using their bodies as instruments, watch a Bomba dance demonstration with student volunteers, and participate in a question-and-answer session.

We are looking forward to this wonderful celebration of literature, music, culture, and movement! 📚🥁💃🏽

⏰ Friday – Early Dismissal

Friday is an early dismissal day for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:50 a.m.

Please make arrangements to ensure that your child is picked up on time or that someone is available to receive them at their bus stop.

Thank you, Wildcat families, for your continued support. Have a wonderful weekend! 💙🐾

Best,

Laura Guzmán

Principal

Wildcat Families, we are excited to welcome Ms. Betty Kromah (Ms. K), our new school-based mental health therapist from The Children’s Guild!

Ms. K will work with students who may benefit from additional social-emotional and mental health support. Her services are provided by referral only. If you have questions or believe your child may benefit from support, please reach out to the school for more information about the referral process.

Please take a moment to read the flyer and learn more about Ms. K and the services she provides. 💗🐾
