IB Campus Family Newsletter
September 2025
Message From the Principal
Dear IB Campus Families,
As we begin a new school year, and my first year as the IB Campus Principal, I want to take a moment to share that we are in this together. Whether you are new to our school community or your child has been attending since Kindergarten, please know that we are committed to creating an environment where every student feels seen, supported, and safe. This doesn’t happen by accident—it happens through partnership, open communication, and mutual trust.
1. Partnership. At the core of everything we do is the belief that young people learn best from those they trust. The academic, emotional, and social growth we all want for your child is rooted in relationships with safe, trustworthy adults, and we can accomplish a lot more when we work together. We aren’t perfect and we won’t always get it right, but we are committed to learning and growing, just like the students we serve.
2. Open Communication. We are here to be advocates for your child.
- We will treat your child with dignity and respect.
- We will communicate openly, clearly, and consistently.
- We will follow school policies.
- We will assume good intentions, seek to understand, and respond with care.
- We will make space for your child to grow, take healthy risks, and develop resilience.
- We will value you as a vital partner in this journey.
- Our promise is not perfection but professionalism and presence.
3. Mutual Trust. Every adult in our school is expected to be someone your child can turn to when they need support, encouragement, challenge, or comfort. This means we prioritize building trust through consistency, transparency, and compassion, and communicating openly and honestly with you, keeping the students’ best interests in mind.
Here is what we hope we can expect from you. We see you as the expert on your child. And we ask you to see us as the experts on student development. When we meet in the middle, with mutual respect and clear expectations, we can provide the strongest possible support for your child. This year we are asking a few things of you:
- Support your child in getting plenty of sleep and getting to school on time. The school day begins promptly at 8am.
- Check that your child is in uniform/ dress code before they leave the house.
- Read messages sent home to stay connected and informed.
- Speak positively about school. Your children adopt your attitude toward school, so let’s make it a good one that helps them grow.
- Follow the procedures during arrival and dismissal. Your child is watching and learning.
- Resist communicating with your child during school hours. Call the school if you need to speak with them.
- Attend school sponsored events like exhibitions, games, and performances your child participates in whenever possible.
- Encourage your child to seek out and connect with trusted adults and classmates, participate in extracurricular, and be an active, engaged citizen of SLCS.
Be on the lookout for club sign ups on September 3 and athletic information as tryouts are happening this week and the fall season of sports begins next week. We hope to see you at Back to School Night on Monday, September 8 from 6-7:30pm. There are two optional sessions you can attend if you would like to learn more about IB grading, our emphasis on attendance, and club offerings for students this year. The same session will be available from 5:30-6:00pm or 7:30-8:00pm in the 3350 Cafeteria.
We are honored you chose to send your child to SLCS and we are excited to partner with you for an awesome 25-26 school year!
Thank you,
Mrs. Bojda

Trimester 1 Extracurricular Clubs
Afterschool cubs will be running from the week of September 15- November 20. These are a great opportunity for students to get involved and try something new. Club sign ups will be available to families on September 3 and are due on September 9. More details to come!
Transportation
Car Riders
- For morning drop-off, families will enter the parking lot behind the 3340 building (4th entrance) and drive around to the front entrance. For afternoon pick-up, families will enter the 3340 back parking lot (4th entrance) starting at 3:00pm and wait for dismissal at 3:10pm. For student safety, please do not pick up students on Tillman Drive, at Carrabbas, at Stay America or on Street Road. Students may not be dropped off in front of 3350 between 7:30-8:30 am and 2:30-3:30 pm. This poses a major safety concern. We need your cooperation with our school policies for arrival and dismissal to keep all students safe.
Yellow Bus
- All school districts other than Philadelphia will be contacted by SLCS with yellow bus information which we will share as soon as it is given to us by the school districts.
SEPTA
- Students riding SEPTA buses will depart at Street Rd. and Tillman Dr. Students who are eligible for SEPTA will receive a yearly Trans Pass at the front desk.
- There are updates posted to the Septa website pertaining to schedule changes that directly impact schools that can be found here.
- Effective August 2025: Route 50 will be discontinued. Passengers may use Route 20 or Route 130 to reach School Lane Charter School IB Campus.
- Effective January 2026: Route 128 will be discontinued. Passengers may use Route 20 or Route 130 to reach School Lane Charter School IB Campus.
- The Tillman Drive/Street Rd. SEPTA bus 20 arrives at 3:09pm and the 130 arrives at 3:22pm. The next bus arrives 1 hour later. To work around this we will be dismissing students who ride SEPTA at 3:05pm. They will be supervised as they transition to the stop and at the stop by an administrator. If the bus is early or students miss the bus, they can reach out to their parent/guardian to be picked up; however, they will also be able to stay at the school and will be supervised by a staff member until the next bus arrives. We understand this is not an ideal situation and we will see how next week goes and continue to adapt and communicate with families around any updates or changes.
