Work-Based Learning Experience Graduation Requirement
Hello Seniors!
In order to graduate from SVHS, all students are required to complete a Work-Based Learning Experience.
Students have the option of choosing one of the following three options:
- Job Shadow Experience -- Students can choose to complete 3 separate, 3 hour job shadows. Job shadow experiences must be approved ahead of time by Ms. Fisher or Mr. Dezzi. Students will complete a Pre, During and Post activity for each job shadow. Applications and activities are located in Google Classroom and this is where you will submit these documents as well. If a student completes a job shadow during school hours, it will be an approved absence. Absences must be approved ahead of the job shadow date by giving a copy of the Job Shadow Application to the attendance office. Job Shadows 1 and 2 are due by October 28, 2025. Job Shadow 3 is due by January 13, 2026.
- Service Learning -- Students who complete a minimum of 60 hours of community service qualify for the Service Learning Work-Based Experience. Service Learning students need to complete the hours log and reflection in Google Classroom. If students volunteer at multiple locations, reflections need to be completed for each different experience. All Service Learning documentation is due by January 13, 2026.
- Co-op -- BAVTS students who are enrolled in a Co-op program can use this experience to fulfill their Work-Based graduation requirement. Co-op confirmation documents (obtained from BAVTS) must be uploaded to Google Classroom by December 5, 2025.
If you need help finding a job shadow placement or would like to set up a meeting to discuss possible placements, please contact Ms. Fisher (A-L) or Mr. Dezzi (M-Z).

Junior Council Person Program – Lower Saucon Township
My name is Carol Schneider, and I serve as the Human Resources/Community Engagement Coordinator at Lower Saucon Township.
Together with our Township Secretary, Stacy Werkheiser, I’d like to share information about our Junior Council Person Program for students in grades 9–12 who reside in Lower Saucon Township.
This program provides students with the opportunity to participate in local government, attend Township meetings, and act as a bridge between officials and their peers.
It’s a valuable way to learn about municipal processes, develop leadership skills, and engage in community issues.
First introduced in Pennsylvania in 1999 and adopted by Lower Saucon in 2002, the program has continued to grow as a meaningful way to connect youth with their community and inspire future leaders.
Participants gain experience in teamwork, public speaking, budgeting, community engagement, and decision-making—skills that serve them well beyond the program.
Here is a flyer with information for interested students to download. FLYER LINK
Interested students may contact Ms. Werkheiser with any questions.
