Windsong Elementary
August 1, 2025
๐ Windsong Weekly: September 13, 2025
Dear Windsong Ranch Elementary Families,
We are thrilled to share some exciting news! This week, our campus was named a PLC Model Campus! This national recognition is given to only a small number of schools each year, and it highlights the hard work our teachers do every day to collaborate, focus on student learning, and ensure growth for all. We are so proud of our staff for putting in the right work for kids every day.
Thank you to our parents for teaching your children to be responsible! We are so proud of our independent students who exit their cars on their own and head straight to class each morning. This helps keep our car line moving smoothly. Way to go!
A quick reminder to students and parents to please use the designated crosswalks during arrival and dismissal. This helps keep traffic flowing smoothly and, most importantly, keeps everyone safe. Our two crosswalk locations are:
-
Redstem & Southwest Corner Parking Lot exit (by the big park)
-
Pine Leaf and Copper Canyon
Have a great weekend and we'll see you back at the Ranch on Monday morning.
Together we Prosper,
Michelle Qualls

โญ Important Notes
Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon at First St and Copper Canyon
The City of Prosper has been working hard to find ways to make the area around Windsong safer for our students during arrival and dismissal. A Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon will be installed at First St. and Copper Canyon between 9/15 and 11/28/25. Mor information about what a PHB is and how it works can be found here.
North Texas Giving Day
North Texas Giving Day is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation, powered by Communities Foundation of Texas. Each September, nonprofits across North Texas come together to raise funds in just 18 hours of giving.
For Prosper Education Foundation, itโs a chance to showcase all the ways we invest in Prosper ISD, including:
Teacher Grants that spark creativity and innovation in classrooms ๐
Scholarships that open doors for graduating seniors ๐
Student & Teacher Support Programs that strengthen learning and well-being ๐ก
This year, NorthTexasGivingDay is on September 18! Every gift helps Prosper ISD teachers dream big and Prosper students thrive. ๐
Hearing and Vision Screening
On Wednesday, September 17th, all state mandated grades will have their vision and hearing checked as well as a quick visual check of their necks for the acanthosis nigricans marker (which can be an identifying factor of Diabetes) by our PISD certified screeners. These students will include all of Kinder, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade, as well as all new to Prosper ISD students. If you have any appointments to attend, please try to schedule them for after 2pm on this date.
Here are some tips to prepare your student for screening:
If your student wears glasses or contact lenses, please make sure they are wearing them for the screening day
If your student wears contact lenses on the screening date, please have them inform their screener
Please no earrings on this day - many of the students state that the headphones for hearing screening hurt them as they press on their earrings
Please note, if your student is determined to need outside evaluation for either vision or hearing, you will receive a notice sent home. Please reach out to Nurse Palmer (mspalmer@prosper-isd.net) if you have any questions or concerns.

Our teachers meet in vertical teams to connect learning across gradesโhelping students grow while also learning from one another.
Together We Cultivate
Together we cultivate meaningful connections across our growing school community.
Huge shout out to Brave New Wall, owned by Windsong parent Andreh Anderson. He created a beautiful mural to spruce up our staff lounge and we absolutely love it! Thank you, Mr. Anderson!
Together We Champion
Together we champion every studentโs path to excellence through consistent use of the Workshop Model to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, drive growth, and build future-ready learners.
