Happy New Year DKMS Families!!! It has been a very short week for us here at the middle school.

Just a quick reminder about a few things dealing with our wonderful winter weather. We send out notifications on our website: https://www.dkschools.org. Also, we send out emails, texts, and robocalls alerting families about delays or closings based on contact information we have in PowerSchool. If you have not been getting notifications, please contact our office at (269) 623-1541 to update your contact information. Finally, students are required to wear a coat outside for recess if the temperature is below 32 degrees. I would also recommend they wear boots, hats, and gloves if they plan on playing in the snow.

Next week students do not have school on Monday January 22, 2024.

In our sports update, our middle school girls basketball teams will be hosting their first games of the season on Monday January 22, 2024. The 7th grade B team will tip off at 4:00 pm, followed by the 7th grade A team at 5:00 pm, and the final game will be our 8th grade team starting at 6:00 pm. Also, our middle school wrestling team will be hosting their first meet on Tuesday January 23, 2024 in the middle school gym starting at 5:00 pm.

We will begin NWEA testing next week and these tests will be going on for the next few weeks. It is important that students are coming to school regularly, well rested, and should be eating breakfast and lunch. Students are welcome to a free breakfast every morning in the cafeteria.

As always, I want to thank our staff, students, families, and community for everything they do to make DKMS a great place to be. Please stay safe and warm over this long wintery weekend!

Thank you,

Principal
