EMES School Newsletter
EMES School Newsletter March 6, 2026
It was wonderful to welcome your children back to school on Wednesday. I hope you all had a restful and healthy February break. Thank you to all who came out to vote at Town Meeting on Tuesday, and a big thank-you to Julia, Penny, and Tavish for serving as pages for our Town Meeting Tuesday morning. I am relieved to have this year's budget process behind us and to be able to focus on all the other things related to school operations! In the coming weeks, I will reach out to families about next year's placement and teaching assignments.
February was an especially full and busy month for such a short month at EMES. We were excited to bring back Winter Wellness for the first time since COVID, and although there were many moving parts, it was an incredibly successful and rich experience for our students, staff, and family members. Thursdays felt a bit like a whirlwind, but it was worth it! Thank you all for your help in ensuring this was a success.
As we enter March and the warmer days, the snow is melting and ice is building up in areas of our playground. Please continue to send snow gear in with your children each day as we still have a lot of snow (that is quickly going to turn to mud!). March is also the month for student-led conferences. You will hear from your child's teacher in the coming days to schedule a student-led conference on or around March 20th. We especially love these conferences as students are able to showcase their learning.
Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to turn your clocks ahead Saturday before bed!

Blue Raiders Basketball Opportunities
The School Basketball Season is starting to round 3rd base and finish up for the season. Many of you have reached out in one way or another inquiring about late winter and early spring Blue Raider basketball opportunities. A survey was sent out a few weeks ago to inventory further Hoop interest and what would best capture the most hoopers in the district while promoting skill development.
The survey results indicated that a large majority of you would prefer a League/Skill Building Clinic 2 days a week instead of AAU Tournament Teams. I personally really like this option a lot as we can get to know the younger players, identify age specific skill needs, teach fundamentals, shooting form, ball handling etc... and focus on these individual and athletic skills. There are several AAU Programs in the area for those who wish to play in tournaments etc. However, this will give an affordable opportunity to all the kids in the district to learn the game, play with their friends and get to know their future teammates from other district schools and coaches at U-32. Both the Boys and Girls High School Basketball Coaching Staffs will be involved. I have personally seen this have a positive effect on skill development as well as build a positive culture and the schools I have coached at in the past.
The Raider Coaching Staff is proposing a 2 Day a Week Coed Skills Clinic Monday and Wednesday Evenings from 7:30-9pm starting March 23rd and ending April 29th. We are asking for a sliding scale tuition of $50-100 to benefit the basketball program. Kids will be receiving 6 weeks of basketball instruction and a T Shirt. I know the 7:30-9pm is a late time frame but it is the only time the gym can be accessed due to Spring Sports. Once Spring sports have moved outside we possibly can adjust and make the Skills Clinic earlier in the evening.
Looking forward to getting as many U-32 Raider Hoopers in the GYM!!
