December at Lindenwold ECC
Notes from the Principals
by Mr. Jeff Patterson (Principal) and Ms. Melanie Martin (Assistant Principal)
⦿ We are making changes to our Kindergarten dismissal process to ensure student safety. Kindergartners now must be in the Grass Area to be signed out. We ask that all family members stand behind the cones by the Grass Area and allow Kindergarten classes to get to the Grass Area before signing them out. No Kindergarten student will be signed out on the way to the Grass Area.
⦿Conferences are coming! We look forward to seeing families on Tuesday, 12/9, from 6:00-8:00 pm and on the afternoons on Wednesday, 12/10, and Thursday, 12/11. All of these will be early dismissal days (1:35 for Preschool and 1:40 for Kindergarten/1st Grade).
If you haven't already scheduled a conference with your child's teacher, please do so soon. Conferences are a great way to hear about how your child is doing academically and socially in school. Please be mindful of your conference time slot as we want to make sure all families are provided equal time to speak with their child's teacher.
⦿ Please send your child to school with a coat-not a sweatshirt-daily! Our young students benefit greatly from being able to go outside and we will go out every day we can. We typically go out if the "Real Feel" is above 32 degrees. Please make sure your children's names are on their coats! If your child is in need of a winter coat, please reach out to Ms. Denise Vogel, our School Counselor at dvelez-vogel@lindenwold.k12.nj.us. We have coats available.
⦿If your child is out sick, please send Doctor's notes to Ms. Rivera and Ms. Vanoyen in the Main Office.
⦿If you're on Instagram, please feel free to give the ECC a follow @lindenwoldECC.
⦿ Preschool Families: Please be mindful that we still need Flu Vaccine paperwork from many Preschool families. If we do not have record of students having received a flu vaccine, these Preschoolers will not be able to return to school after Winter Break until we do.

Notes from Our Nurse
By Ms. Amanda Peacock RN, BSN-Lindenwold Early Childhood Center Nurse
In accordance with state regulation, Lindenwold’s Early Childhood Center requires all children 6 months through 59 months of age to receive the flu vaccine by December 31st 2025 to prevent exclusion from school. Students under 5 years of age may not return to school after Winter Break until we have current Flu Vaccine paperwork.
Flu can be more dangerous than the common cold for children. Children younger than 5 years old—especially those younger than 2—and children of any age with certain chronic health conditions, like asthma and diabetes, are at higher risk of developing potentially serious flu complications. Because these groups of children are at higher risk, it is especially important that they get a seasonal flu vaccine to help prevent flu, and to reduce their risk of being hospitalized if they do get sick. Healthy children 5 years and older can also get very sick from flu, in addition to spreading flu to vulnerable family members like infants younger than 6 months and adults who are 65 years and older or people of any age who have certain chronic health conditions. It's important to vaccinate everyone 6 months and older against flu each year to help protect those most at risk. Parents can help children fight flu by getting themselves and their children vaccinated against flu each year.
Per the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and prevention) guidelines for the Seasonal Flu: The current seasonal influenza vaccine is required every year for those children 6 months through 59 months of age. Children who have not received the flu vaccine by December 31 must be excluded (not allowed to attend preschool/school) for the duration of influenza season (through March 31), until they receive at least one dose of the influenza vaccine or until they turn 60 months of age.

Please see the link below regarding K through 12 immunization requirements:

REMINDER: Students who have not received the required flu vaccine by December 31st of this year, will be excluded (not allowed to attend school), until they receive it, or provide a religious/medical exemption letter when classes resume on January 5th, 2026.

Our First Parent/Teacher Organization Meeting
We hosted our First Home and School Organization meeting on November 17th. We had a great turnout and great conversation. Some of the things we spoke about-including parent information sessions about curricular issues and ways to improve breakfast for our Preschool students-are already in the works and we look forward to addressing family needs and priorities.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday, January 12th at 5:30 PM and a Spanish translator will be in attendance.
