Message from the Principal📢
Dear Jaguar Parents and Guardians.
I am excited to share an important academic initiative we completed this past week and to provide a look ahead at our campus activities for November.
Focus on Growth Mindset and Academic Goals
This week, all students in Advisory and their core content classes engaged in a campus-wide effort to reinforce the concepts of Growth Mindset and SMART Goal setting. This initiative is a critical part of our commitment to developing self-aware learners and resilient achievers—key traits outlined in our Academic Performance Standards (APS) Framework.
Students spent time analyzing their Quarter 1 performance, graphing their current grades, and using these data points to create a SMART Goal (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) for Quarter 2 in each of their classes. They also identified the specific Action Steps (e.g., attending tutoring, asking questions, planning revision time) they need to take to achieve these goals.
Action Required: Look for the Goal Setting Sheet
Please be on the lookout for your student's Academic Progress with a Growth Mindset Tracker document coming home early next week. Your student needs to share their written Q2 goals and action steps with you.
We ask that you review these goals with your student and sign the document where indicated on Page 2. Please ensure the signed document is returned to school with your student immediately. This signature helps reinforce the importance of these goals and creates a partnership between the student, the school, and you.
Upcoming Campus Initiatives
We are also excited to announce two major upcoming initiatives designed to foster a positive and supportive school climate:
Red Ribbon Week (Week of October 28th): We will celebrate positive choices and healthy living with a variety of themed activities throughout the week.
No Violence November: Next month, our campus will focus on promoting kindness, conflict resolution skills, and ensuring a safe environment for everyone. We will be engaging students in discussions and activities centered on avoiding violence and fostering empathy.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to empower every student to achieve their full potential.
