Hopefully, everyone is enjoying the extra hour of sleep from Daylight Saving Time! We can certainly use it after such a busy and exciting week at RMS. We were completely wowed by our drama department's performance of Hocus Pocus last Tuesday. Students also had a fantastic time celebrating Red Ribbon Week with all the spirit days that culminated in a Halloween costume contest at lunch and a spooky after-school dance sponsored by our amazing PTA, which had over 300 students in attendance!
Looking Ahead to Next Week.
Quarter 1 Report Cards: Students and families should expect to receive Q1 report cards by Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
November Attendance Incentive (Nov 2 – Nov 19): Research shows that regular school attendance directly impacts student learning. To celebrate and encourage great attendance this month, the 4th-period class with the highest attendance rate will win an Otter Pop party and 5 Rattlesnake Rewards tickets for every student! Remember, your attendance matters!
Administrative Update: As a reminder, Dr. Tera Black will be stepping in as Acting Principal for me over the next six weeks while I support a district assignment. Our campus is in wonderful hands alongside Mr. Trpin. Please feel free to reach out to them with any questions or support needs: Dr. Tera Black: black.tera@tusd.org. Mr. Gregor Trpin: trpin.gregor@tusd.org.
Call for Career Day Speakers: Richardson is excited to host Career Day on March 16, 2027! We are seeking family and community members willing to share their professional journeys with our students. If you or someone you know is interested in participating, please fill out the interest form by January 31, 2027. We will contact all interested presenters with further information. https://forms.gle/okGRsV5fVrpYz2W69
Sports Update: Esports: Our Rattlesnakes beat Casimir 2–0! Great job, team! Next week, we face off against Hull.

Student Shout Out
Dr. Van Poppelen sends snaps and shout-outs to the following 7th graders this week: Mackenzie Cua for demonstrating responsibility; Yuma Martinez for helping a peer in need; Elijah Rosales for making me laugh; and Kentaro Wong for showing me his new specs. Congratulations to my Period 3 7th graders for winning this quarter’s POG competition and treat party for their preparedness, bell-to-bell work, and active participation!
Mrs. J. Dunn would like to send a shout out to Emma Merriam for always being respectful and making the best out of every situation.
Mrs. Cutshaw would like to give a huge and much deserved shout out to my Drama class for their first incredible performance of Hocus Pocus on Tuesday! You all did a fabulous job both backstage and the entire cast! I'm so proud of you all! Can't wait for our next show in December!
Mrs. Cutshaw would like to thank Elle Kim, Jaylene Park, Avy Tsang, Lilia Brown, and Cameryn Framsted for being judges for my first book cover contest!
Mrs. Cutshaw would like to thank Ms. Edwards and her yearbook class for taking pictures of the show! I appreciate it so much!
Just a reminder, RMS adheres to the TUSD Wellness Policy which prohibits outside and homemade food items in large quantities to be brought on to the campus. This is a safety issue for students with food allergies. Parents can bring lunches to their children but no food items to share with other students. Multiple servings, cupcakes, pizza, and cakes would be examples of some food items that will not be allowed on campus in sizes that can feed more than one person.
