The Gator Gazette
September Edition
Welcome Back Gators!
Reach for the Stars!
Welcome Back Gator Familes!
We are off to a great 26-27 school year!! Students are following routines/expectations and are engaged in their classes! Our theme for this year is Reach for the Stars--to encourage students to always set goals and work towards them to achieve success.
Thank you for the warm welcome you have given our new teachers who have joined Garcia Elementary. They are very excited to be here working with your kiddos and serving our community.
Here's to a year filled with learning, kindness, joy, and success. Welcome back—we're so glad you're here!
Attendance Matters!
https://attendanceworks.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Elementary-handout120525.pdf
Our 26-27 campus goal for school attendance is to be above 95%. Last year we ended at 94%, just one point below our current goal. Attendance and school academics go hand in hand and we encourage students to be at school (unless they are ill). Families will now have access to SchoolConnect where you can view your child's attendance.
For students who have perfect attendance at the end of each semester, there will be a celebration to recognize those students.
School Hours
Doors open at 7:20 am.
Dismissal is 3:35.
If students arrive after 7:55 am, please walk your child in to the office and sign them in for the day.
Student drop off in the morning is through car line on the N. 50th side of the building. Please do not drop off at the corner of the main front parking lot.
Open House
September 28th
Mark your calendar for Open House from 5:30-6:30.
We will have a brief Title One meeting at 5:15 in the cafeteria prior to the Open House. You will be able to get information on your child's MAPS scores and your child will share their academic goals.
School Zone and Fire Lane
Reminder that the speed limit is 20mph in the school zone during indicated hours. Also, be mindful about parking in front of the fire lane at the front entrance of the school.
