Principal Message
Dear Families,
We can't believe we are in mid-November! The students enjoyed the little bit of snow we had earlier in the week and the adults were thankful for the 66 degrees we had today!
Report cards are right around the corner and will be sent via email next Friday, November 21st. Please make sure to check your spam/junk folder if you don't receive them. Additionally, ALL families will receive a letter sharing information about your child's attendance. This does NOT mean we have concerns. Absences can stack up quickly without families realizing how often their child has been out and how those absences impact their learning journey. Should your child's teacher or administration have concerns with attendance/tardies we will reach out to you personally.
Sincerely,
Erin, Julia, and the OMS Staff
Veteran's Day Highlights
Students and staff at OMS came together to recognize and honor our nation’s veterans on Veterans Day. Second graders proudly performed patriotic songs at a special concert for families, filling the room with music and gratitude.
In the Commons, a large bulletin board displayed photos of veterans connected to OMS students and staff. It was inspiring to see representation from so many branches of the military and from many different periods of our nation’s history. One staff member’s great-grandfather even appeared in his Civil War uniform! Others were pictured aboard cargo planes or stationed at military bases, proudly wearing their uniforms.
Students also created thank-you cards and messages to express their appreciation. These will be shared with veterans as a small token of our gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
Help for the Holidays
The holidays are quickly approaching, and we have families in our OMS community that can use a little extra help during the holiday season. Please contact us if your family is one that would benefit from this assistance. Gifts or gift cards will be collected to distribute to families who respond by December 5th. Reach out to one of our social workers by confidential voicemail or email listed below.
