I’m pleased to share a few updates and highlights from around our Village.

Recently, I had the opportunity to hold my first community office hours. It was a wonderful experience connecting directly with residents, hearing your concerns, and learning more about your ideas for our Village. Open conversation and accessibility are essential to a strong local government, and I am committed to continuing these efforts. Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend and share your thoughts. I invite community members to join me at the next session on Monday, June 22nd from 6:30–8:00 PM at the Village Community Center, or to schedule an appointment by emailing afowler@hiltonny.gov.

I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Hilton Flower Club for their incredible work in helping beautify our community. Their recent planting of the America 250 flag in the Community Center garden bed, along with the lovely planters throughout the Village, adds color, pride, and vibrancy to our shared spaces. Thank you for your dedication and care.

A special thank-you goes out to our Department of Public Works for their continued hard work. After a particularly harsh winter, they have been busy repairing Village streets and cleaning up debris to keep our community safe, functional, and welcoming. Their efforts do not go unnoticed.

As we look ahead to summer, I encourage everyone to take part in our Summer Concert Series at the Gazebo at the Village Community Center. Join us on the first Monday of June, July, and August for evenings of great food and entertainment. Food will be available for purchase from food trucks between 5:00–7:30 PM, followed by FREE live music from 6:00–7:30 PM. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gather with friends, family, and neighbors.

Wishing all of you a safe, enjoyable, and memorable summer season!

Andrew Fowler, Village of Hilton Mayor

Introducing Hilton's New Superintendent of Public Works, Dan Verace Introducing Hilton's New Superintendent of Public Works, Dan Verace

Hilton's Newest Superintendent of Public Works, Dan Verace
zoom_out_map

At May's Village Board Meeting, Dan Verace was named the Village of Hilton's next Superintendent of Public Works and will begin on June 1st. Dan has provided the following information to help introduce himself to our community. Please join us in welcoming Dan to the Village of Hilton!

What was your previous role?

I served as the Superintendent of Public Works for the past five years for the Village of Brockport, overseeing all aspects of our department including roads, water/sewer infrastructure, parks, fleet maintenance, building maintenance, festival set up, and emergency response. Prior to that, I spent seven years in progressively responsible roles as a laborer for the Village of Brockport. Over my 12-year career, I’ve been fortunate to lead both day-to-day operations, larger capital improvement projects, and communicate with residents/business owners to solve problems that directly improved the village’s infrastructure and quality of life.

What inspired you to pursue a career in Public Works?

I was drawn to Public Works because of deep family ties and it is one of the few careers where you can see the direct, tangible impact of your work every single day. Whether it’s the roads we drive on, the plumbing we rely on, and sidewalks we walk on, they are essential to keep maintained. I realized I wanted a job where I could solve real problems, work with my hands and my mind, and contribute to something bigger than myself.

What is your favorite part of working for a Department of Public Works?

My favorite part is watching the team come together to complete projects — whether it’s a small sidewalk repair or a major infrastructure upgrade — and knowing we’ve made the community noticeably better. There’s nothing quite like driving through the village and seeing the results of our hard work: smoother roads, reliable utilities, and well-maintained parks. I genuinely enjoy mentoring team members, solving complex problems together, and celebrating those wins as a department. At the end of the day, it’s about progress and pride in what we build and maintain for our residents.

What excites you the most about the Village of Hilton?

What excites me most about the Village of Hilton is the clear sense of community pride and the opportunity to build on a strong foundation. Hilton has beautiful neighborhoods, active community spaces, and residents who clearly care about their village. I’m energized by the chance to bring my experience in efficient operations, infrastructure planning, and team leadership to help Hilton continue to thrive — whether that means improving road conditions, enhancing parks and recreation facilities, maintaining reliable waste and recycling pick up, all while preserving the village’s character. I’m looking forward to working closely with the DPW crew, village leadership, residents, and active community members to deliver excellent service to Hilton.

Is there anything else you would like our community to know about you?

I’m a dedicated public servant who truly believes that well maintained infrastructure and a well-run Public Works department are the backbone of a great community. I’m excited to bring my skills and energy to the Village of Hilton and become a long-term member of this community. Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife and children. I also enjoy hiking, boating/kayaking and fishing, and I value time with close friends.

On Memorial Day, our community came together in solemn reflection to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. It was inspiring to see friends, neighbors, and families gather to pay tribute, showing both deep respect for the fallen and heartfelt gratitude for the veterans who proudly call our Village home.

This meaningful day of remembrance would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of many. The Village of Hilton would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those involved in planning and organizing our community’s Memorial Day Parade and Service, including Hiscock-Fishbaugh American Legion Post #788, the Hilton Fire Department, the Town of Parma Special Police, the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Boy Scout Troop 99, Cub Scout Pack 330, The Parma-Hilton Historical Society, and the Hilton Central School District’s Crimson Cadet Marching Band. Their commitment helped ensure that we honored our nation’s heroes with the dignity and reverence they deserve.
