Doughty's Dialogue: High School Principal
End of 1st 6 Weeks
As we wrap up our first six weeks, I want to take a moment to recognize the tremendous energy and involvement happening across Meridian High School. From athletics and CTE industry tours to FFA events, cross country, volleyball, and our Tarleton dual-credit opportunities, our students continue to take advantage of the many opportunities available to them.
The next few weeks are just as busy! We have football and volleyball games, cross country meets, the State Fair of Texas and HOT Fair livestock shows, CTE career experiences, the Construction & Manufacturing Careers Showcase, ACT testing, our high school book fair, and much more. There is truly something for everyone to be a part of.
I also want to take a moment to express how grateful I am to be part of this community. Recently, our community faced a mandatory evacuation due to the Hydra Fire, and once again, Meridian showed what it means to come together. I am incredibly thankful for the first responders who worked tirelessly to protect our community and for the staff members who stepped up to serve at the high school while it was being used as an evacuation center. Most of all, I am proud of our students and community for the strength, resilience, and support they demonstrated throughout the experience.
We may have been temporarily displaced, but we came back stronger than before. That spirit of resilience and togetherness is something special, and I am honored to serve this community.
Thank you for your continued support of Meridian High School. I encourage everyone to stay connected, support our students, and take pride in all that is happening on our campus and throughout our community.

Meridian FFA & Ag Classes: Lots Happening!
Things are BUSY in the Meridian Ag Department, and we couldnโt be more excited about everything our students have going on!
Stay Connected!
Until we have ParentSquare fully up and running, be sure to follow the Meridian FFA Facebook page and check our newsletter regularly for important announcements, upcoming events, student opportunities, reminders, and everything happening in our Ag department.
Learning Beyond the Classroom!
Our Ag Science classes have been busy with hands-on learning, labs, projects, and activities that bring agriculture to life. One recent example comes from our Veterinary Medical Applications class, where students conducted a bacteria growth lab by collecting samples from different areas around the school. Students tested surfaces such as door handles, sinks, walls, chair bottoms, and water fountain handles to observe bacterial growth and explore the importance of sanitation and environmental factors in protecting health.
Projects like this give our students the opportunity to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to real-world situations and, after seeing some of their results, you might want to wash your hands a little more often!
Thank You, Bosque County Community!
We want to give a HUGE thank-you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, checked on us, offered advice, or simply reached out to see how they can help. The support our students receive from our families, school, and community means so much. Your support helps us create more opportunities and experiences for our students!
Show Season Is Here!
The next few weeks are going to be especially exciting as our students prepare for the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo and the State Fair of Texas! From livestock projects to contests and everything in between, our students are putting in the time and effort to represent Meridian with pride. We canโt wait to see what they accomplish!
Help Us Reach Our Fundraising Goal!

Dual Credit Dorm Room
Additionally: Meridian High School students have the opportunity to participate in industry tours throughout the school year. These tours allow students to visit local businesses, meet professionals, explore career pathways, and see firsthand how the skills they are learning in school connect to the workplace.
Industry tours are an important part of helping students make informed decisions about college, careers, certifications, and future goals. They also give students the chance to ask questions, learn about different work environments, and discover opportunities they may not have considered before.
Students interested in attending an industry tour must complete the Google Form below. Only students who submit a request at least two weeks before the scheduled tour will be considered. Space is limited, and priority will be given to seniors first, followed by juniors, sophomores, and freshmen .Additionally, student's CTE pathways will also be considered.
Submitting the form does not guarantee a spot. Students selected to attend will receive additional information and permission forms before the trip.
