PA Class Whatsapp Groups
Class WhatsApp groups are a very useful and efficient way of communicating with the whole class.
The aim of using WhatsApp is to send messages to the entire group which are relevant to class/school.
The messages in the class WhatsApp groups come from parents in their personal capacity or are sent on behalf of the Parents’ Association.
The School neither sends nor monitors messages on WhatsApp. To ensure that these groups remain a positive space for all, the Parents Association will be updating the guidelines for each class group.
Brief guidelines will be added to each WhatsApp Group, and a full code of conduct will be uploaded to the school website in March.
WhatsApp GUIDELINES:
The messages in the class WhatsApp groups come from parents in their personal capacity or are sent on behalf of the Parents’ Association.
The school neither sends nor monitors messages on WhatsApp.
The Parents’ Association would appreciate it if parents would note the following guidelines when using class WhatsApp groups.
1. Comply with the PA Code of Conduct Policy (available at www.dangannationalschool.ie)
2. Always be respectful in language and tone.
3. The group should never be used as a platform to air views/grievances regarding a teacher,
child, or parent in the class or school.
4. The group should not be used for private conversations with anyone else using the group.
Smart Watches in School
Just a quick note to remind everyone that, in line with our school’s digital devices policy, children are not allowed to bring smart watches to school. You can find the full policy on our school website here. Thanks for your support in keeping our school environment focused and distraction-free.

Lá Glas & Crazy Hair Day!
Over the past 2 weeks the students have been taking part in lots of extra Irish activities, such as: singing songs, learning poems, Irish quizzes, learning céilí dances and making an extra effort to speak Gaeilge. To mark the end of Seachtain na Gaeilge we had a Lá Glas, where students all wore something green.
We also combined this with our Crazy Hair Day, to raise money for Pieta House.A huge thank you to all the boys and girls—and of course, to you, the parents—for supporting this wonderful cause. Thanks to your generosity, we raised a fantastic total of €285.10!
Photos from this special day can be viewed on the school website here.

Green Schools Update!
With spring well and truly upon us as part of green schools we have been getting ready to sow our vegetables in our beds. 5th class are being very helpful in getting the beds cleaned out so they are fresh and ready for planting to take place in the coming weeks. We decided to take advantage of the sunshine last week and all the class have painted the sides of the beds in beautiful colourful designs. We will be sowing our seeds in the coming weeks and hopefully we will have yummy vegetables to eat soon!
