Fall Universal Screener

REPOST from 8/12/24:

  • iReady Reading Diagnostic
  • iReady Math Diagnostic
  • Written Expression (August 19th-30th) (Guidance is posted in On Target for Success SharePoint, and in the C&I Curricular Resources RTI Folder)
  • Screening for Characteristics of Dyslexia if flagged at risk
    • 25th percentile and below***
    • Any student where parent or teacher has concerns with Reading deficits

All data K-6th collected between August 12-30 will be reported to TDOE by Curriculum Associates.

***Due to two different percentiles showing in TDOE communications, I contacted them for clarity last week. Please use the 25th percentile and below for additional screening as this is what is outlined in the law. The 15th percentile and below is what the State Board has identified for significant reading deficits.

TDOE Universal Reading Screening Decision Making Crosswalks

TDOE released the Universal Reading Screening Decision Making Crosswalks on August 16th. Though very similar to last year, there is more detailed information found in the introduction to help with contextualizing how this supports data based decision making.

Note that the document includes the decision making crosswalks for each of the seven approved universal screeners. MSCS uses iReady. Pay close attention to the grade level in red at the top right of the document as this will provide the correct crosswalk for you by grade.

This FAQ provides highlights for iReady exports new in 2024-25. A copy has also been placed in the iReady folder in On Target for Success.

Question from TNPulse MTSS Back to School Training

If the student's plan from spring 2024 is being used at this time, does the student need to be administered a Survey Level Assessment if the plan is simply going to be continued?

Yes, survey level assessment should be administered so that data can connect between aimswebPlus and TNPulse.

iReady Error Codes

Last week many schools experienced challenges between iReady, Clever, and the placeholders for teachers in PowerSchool. Please know that MSCS IT, MSCS Clever Admin Team, and iReady have been working closely to resolve the issues and will continue working closely this week. The error codes below were shared by iReady.

Remember when emailing issues to RTI2@scsk12.org, you will need to include the student and/or teacher name, student PSID number, and details of what the concern is. Screenshots are extremely helpful.

Intervention Instructional Resources

iReady is our assessment tool and also provides instructional resources at the PreK-8th grade instructional level. You may also use the intervention resources that are available in the ELA and Math Tier 1 curricular materials to support students' learning needs. We have ended our contract with Imagine Learning. Please do not contact this vendor for support. Questions can be shared with Emily Vuoso, vuosoeb@scsk12.org.

Progress Monitoring

In 2024-25, students with Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention plans will be monitored in the following manner using probes found in aimswebPlus.

  1. on grade level once per month
  2. at the instructional level in the identified skill deficit area for ELA and/or Math
  • K-5 bi-weekly Tier 2
  • K-5 weekly Tier 3
  • 6-12 bi-weekly Tier 2 and Tier 3

TDOE RTI Open Office Hours

August 20th 11:00-12:00 Topic has been changed to Open Forum rather than ILP-Ds. Link is found within the linked calendar below.

NOTE: This session was originally designed to ask them questions regarding ILP-Ds located in TNPulse. It is not a training, but is designed to support any questions for TDOE you may have about current topics in RTI.

Data-Based Decision Making Part I

We are up to 51 schools who have noted that they have viewed part one of this training. Great job! Please remember that this training must be completed by the principal and MTSS Lead during the month of August as it will set all of us up for success as we begin data team meetings in September.

Part II coming next week.😉

Reminders Reminders

Opening Checklist Items

Please ensure that you have reviewed and are taking action on the opening checklist. This will help you get a great start to the school year! As your principal approves the information, please upload it to your school folder as a matter of documentation.

  • Place a copy of your school data team schedule in your school folder. Very few MTSS Leads have placed them in the folder as of Friday. This is an item on the opening checklist and it helps me to speak to your plans when asked.
  • I also need your school testing schedule added to your school folder.

Be Informed About RTI

Planning for RTI is equally as important as planning for ELA, Math, and other subject areas and requires a schedule and review of resources much as you would for these. Be sure that you have time each week to check your progress as a school and that you have time to provide updates to your principal and/or school leadership team. The more closely you read documents and information shared via email or posted to On Target for Success SharePoint, the more informed you will be. We are about to enter the season of Tier 2 and Tier 3 plan development in a few weeks and will need to make sure that we are ready to stay on target for success. Look for information to support you coming soon.

On Target for Success SharePoint

The On Target for Success SharePoint is available to Principals, Leads and Co-Leads. Please be cautious as you work within the SharePoint that you are not editing documents. When working with documents that are shared, please download a copy, make your edits, and then share. If you make a mistake and make edits to documents, please email me vuosoeb@scsk12.org.
