BOTH LOCATIONS - NO therapy Friday, June 12th
BURTON MOVING TIMELINE
We are thrilled to share some wonderful news regarding the future of our center. To better serve our learners and provide the highest quality environment for their growth, Strive Center Burton will be moving to a brand-new location this June!
Our new home is located just two miles away from our current site, ensuring that your daily commute remains nearly the same while offering a significantly upgraded experience for your child.
Our Moving Timeline
We are still on track to begin services in the new setting in mid June.
We will now be OPEN during our regular business hours 8:30-3:30 May 26th - June 11th in our current location.
Friday, June 12th: NO SERVICES for Professional Development Day (we’ll use part of this time to move)
Monday, June 15th: NO SERVICES as we will finish moving and setting things up
Tuesday, June 16th : First day of services in the new location!
July – date TBD: Open house after therapy in the new location. This will be a fun activity for families and staff as well as community members to see our new location all set up!

Summer Fun Fridays
Each Friday in the summer, we plan for an extra fun activity and a dress up day. All the dress up days are designed to be simple ones you can do with things you have at home, please don’t feel obligated to buy anything to make this happen. Staff and children will both participate in dressing up!
**We will be sending home Strive shirts for each child in the next few weeks for school spirit days!**
6-12-26 PD DAY - NO THERAPY
6-19-26 Sink or Float Science Experiement. SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY - wear your Strive shirt
6-26-26 Scavenger Hunt. SPORTS DAY - dress up in your favorite team's colors!
7-2-26 Fun Thursday Sensory Path. Red, white, and blue day - wear anything you've got in patriotic colors!
7-10-26 Reading buddies. HAT DAY - wear any hat!
7-17-26 Water day. BEACH DAY- bring your swimsuit so we can play in the water - dress like you're heading to the beach - sunglasses, beach towel, etc!
7-24-26 Water painting outside. SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY - wear your Strive shirt
7-31-26 Frozen Dino Eggs activity. PAJAMA DAY
8-7-26 Wheels Day/Wheels Wash/Water day - bring your wheels again, we'll wash them and have a splashing good time! SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY - wear your Strive shirt
8-14-26 PD DAY - NO THERAPY
8-21-26 What melts in the sun? Science experiement. ALL ONE COLOR DAY - dress in all one color.
Safety Event in Livingston County Sunday June 14th
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with LivCo Connected, LESA, and other community organizations for a Safety Enrollment Event designed to support individuals with disabilities, communication barriers, medical conditions, sensory needs, and other vulnerable populations.

Complete MSP VIP fingerprinting & photographs
Receive LivCo Connected identifying stickers for vehicles & residences
Submit a 911 address flag
Enroll in the STS (Simple Tracking System)

This event is sensory-friendly, welcoming, and designed with families in mind.

Policy Reminder: Children's Dress Code
Outdoor Recess Policy
The purpose of this policy is to describe the conditions under which children at Strive will play outside. Typically, outdoor recess is planned twice per day, for 15 minutes each time. Sometimes double recess is allowed for the entire group, either for a specific activity or just for fun. Some children will have additional individual time outdoors, depending on their needs.
Cold Weather
In the winter, children will play outside daily as long as the Feels Like temperature is above 20°. Families should send winter gear, including snow pants, boots, and mittens or gloves. Strive will keep some extra winter gear on hand and will share with children as needed, but generally children who do not bring their gear will need to stay indoors for recess when there is snow on the ground. Winter gear may be sent daily and go home daily or stay at the center for the week and go home each weekend, per family’s request.
Hot Weather
In the summer, children will play outside daily as long as the Heat Index is in the comfortable or caution range in the chart below. When it is in the caution range, time outdoors will be limited to 15 minutes at once. Children will not play outside when the heat index is in the danger range. For any medical concerns, parents may provide a note to keep their child indoors as needed beyond these measures.
Meet the team!
Katlyn, Registered Behavior Technician and Lead Therapist
Katlyn has been part of the Strive team since February 2021 and has worked in both our Brighton and Burton locations. She is currently a Lead Therapist and RBT in Burton. She previously worked for the State of Michigan as a student assistant with services for the blind. She helped with events and casefile management.
Katlyn enjoys sewing and Cosplay. She runs a business for pop culture scrunchies. She also sews costumes for Cosplay. Her favorite costume that she has made so far is Baby Yoda (Grogu.)
