WELCOME to our NEW FAMILIES - NEW STUDENT/FAMILY ORIENTATION 9/2

Join us for a new student orientation on September 2nd at 4:15 PM for a quick orientation. This is for families that are new to the district or new to the building. Kindergarten families whose students attended the K orientation do not need to attend.

"Sneak a Peek" Open House: Sept. 2, 5-6 PM

Our building will be open for ALL families to take a self-guided tour on September 2nd from 5-6 PM to help ease first day jitters. This is an opportunity for students to walk the halls, locate their classroom, and maybe bump into a classmate or two! Some students, for example, may benefit from a practice walk from the bus loop to their classroom location to make the first morning of the year a bit smoother. If you think this would be a beneficial opportunity for your child, we look forward to seeing you then! Please note that while the school will be open, classrooms may not, as teachers may not be present. Teachers look forward to seeing your child(ren) on the first day (9/3), and to meeting you at Back to School Night (Sept 15).

LEGAL DOCUMENTS

If there are specific custody arrangements, it is absolutely essential that you provide us with a copy of the most current court papers so that we can follow through on these requirements. Without such information, your child will be released to either parent. If you have any questions about this, please contact a member of the school administrative team. The school will need a copy of that part of your legal agreement (the most current) that specifies the custody and visitation rights of parents. If the legal agreement is updated, a new copy should be provided. This information will be kept confidential. The school needs this information in order to meet its legal obligations. We cannot honor written requests regarding custody from a parent.

Nurse Notes from Nurse Bethany

Annual Reminders:

  • Does your child have an Epi-Pen, this must be handed to Nurse Bethany with doctor's orders by an adult.
  • Asthma Action Plan - must be updated and sent to Nurse Bethany (along with any inhalers)
  • Any new medical issues (please email Nurse Bethany)
  • Does your child need glasses? Can't afford them? Contact Nurse Bethany

Arrival/Dismissal

Please read this document carefully if you will be dropping your student to school or picking them up in the afternoon.

If your child will be a parent pick up daily (not taking the bus), please fill out this form so that we know your expected pick up plans.

BUS RIDERS!

If your child will be riding a bus this year, please have them practice buckling a seatbelt. The buses all have 3 point seatbelts (same as in your cars), therefore please practice this with them.

Watch these videos with your child to learn how to use the seatbelts on the bus!

Birthday Recognition

We love to recognize children’s birthdays. However, NO FOOD, BALLOONS or GOODY BAGS are permitted for these celebrations. If you would like your child’s birthday to be recognized, please reach out to your child’s teacher at least one week in advance. Your child’s teacher will share the way(s) in which birthdays will be recognized in class. Most often this will be a read aloud book your child has chosen, a morning meeting activity of your child’s choice, or a free-choice activity of your child’s choice.

Invitations to birthday celebrations are not to be distributed at school.

New NJ Bell to Bell Cell Phone Law

This year a new NJ law mandates that all school districts implement a ban on internet-enabled personal devices during the school day. This includes cell phones and smartwatches that can receive calls or texts or access the internet. Our elementary schools have already been implementing these guidelines so this is not a major change for us.

Therefore, this is a reminder that students may not use cell phones and smartwatches during any part of the school day. These items must be in students' backpacks if they bring them to school and it will be considered a Code of Conduct violation if they are using them or have them with them during the school day. Please also keep in mind that bringing these devices to school is at your own risk. We cannot spend school time searching for devices that are missing or lost.

Lost and Found

The LOST and FOUND is located in the cafeteria at Greenbrook. Items will be donated at the end of EVERY MONTH!

Please write your child's name in sweatshirts and jackets and on all water bottles.

Encourage your child to check the LOST and FOUND weekly.

Thank you in advance.
