Lady Jaguar Wrestling–Dec. Recap
“Prepare the Hunt”
“Wrestling doesn’t build character—it reveals it.”
Dear Lady Jaguar Wrestling Fans,
December was a defining month for Lady Jaguar Wrestling — one that set the tone early and never let up. From dominant dual performances to championship weekends and elite out-of-state competition, our athletes continued to prove who they are and what this program stands for.
Varsity Dual vs. Byron Nelson. Final Score: Flower Mound 48 – Byron Nelson 30
We opened December by making a statement. The varsity girls controlled the dual from start to finish, wrestling with confidence, intensity, and purpose. This performance set the tone for the rest of the month and showed the depth and toughness of this lineup.
The Lady Jags gave away 18 points early due to unfilled weights at 115, 125, and 235 pounds, as we strategically chose to send those athletes to compete at the JV Mike McCready Memorial, where they would receive more mat time and valuable experience. Byron Nelson also gave 12 points at 105 and 130 pounds, meaning that on a match-by-match basis, the final score would read 36–12.

Senior Kamalini Sankar
Senior Naziah Moore
JV at the Mike McCready Memorial
Our JV squad competed at the Mike McCready Memorial, gaining valuable mat time and experience against a deep field of tough competition. Made up primarily of freshmen, the girls competed with confidence and grit throughout the tournament.
It’s important to note that in these brackets, when an athlete takes their loss (1st, 2nd, or 3rd match) determines the highest placement they are eligible to wrestle for, making every early match critical.

LISD Ladies Cup – Champions (Again!)
The LISD Ladies Cup was created with intention — to give female wrestlers a platform, to elevate competition within our district, and to remind our athletes that what they are building matters. In the weeks leading up to this event, the girls were reminded that this tournament is not just about results, but about honoring the work, the growth, and the legacy of girls wrestling in LISD.
This competition represents opportunity — an opportunity for athletes to compete against familiar opponents, to measure growth year over year, and to take pride in being part of something bigger than a single season. The Ladies Cup exists because girls wrestling deserves its own space to shine, and our athletes understand the responsibility that comes with carrying that torch.
Once again, the Lady Jaguars stepped up and won the LISD Ladies Cup, continuing a tradition built on consistency, depth, and culture. Every match mattered. Every point counted. And every athlete — varsity and JV — contributed to defending what this event stands for.
Athletes who rose to the moment: First-year wrestlers currently competing on JV2 stepped up in a big way to fill critical lineup needs for the Lady Jags. Annika Rojas filled in at 115 pounds when our varsity athlete became ill and was unable to compete, and Adrianna Badinger stepped in at 125 pounds — a weight class we have been battling all season.
Team moments that reflected our culture: Throughout the LISD Ladies Cup, the girls kept the energy high and the momentum rolling from start to finish. Their constant encouragement, focus between matches, and commitment to finishing strong allowed us to close out every dual with confidence and purpose. A key moment came when Aisha Williams defeated last year’s 6A 165-pound state runner-up from Hebron, setting the tone.
Dual Results:
-
vs. Lewisville: 60–24
-
vs. Hebron: 72–6
-
vs. Marcus: 60–24
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Ms. Burton for awarding the Lady Jags with the LISD Ladies Cup and for her continued support of girls wrestling here at FMHS. And of course a huge thank you to Officer Espinosa, FMHS Athletics #1 Fan!

Texas Women’s Classic
Each year, the Texas Women’s Classic, hosted just down the road at LHS, is widely regarded as the hardest girls wrestling tournament in the State of Texas. It is not uncommon for a single bracket to include multiple state champions and numerous state placers across both 5A and 6A. Simply advancing to Day 2 on the varsity side is a battle in itself.
Our Lady Jaguars rose to the challenge. While we did not come home with the coveted boot trophy this year, the team delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 5th out of 62 teams in one of the deepest fields in the state.

105 lbs – Aleena Siddiquee (Sophomore): Finished 2–2. In a 64-woman bracket, she narrowly missed advancing to placement matches.

Varsity Placers
Most Outstanding Wrestler - Aisha Williams Bautista
Kansas City Stampede – Kansas City, MO
The Kansas City Stampede took us eight hours north to compete in one of the largest high school wrestling tournaments in the country. This national-level event draws elite competition, including state champions and nationally ranked athletes from Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. With 66 teams in attendance—and a waitlist just to get in—the level of competition is unmatched.
While we did not finish exactly how we anticipated, the Lady Jaguars earned a strong 25th-place finish, with only one other Texas team placing higher. More importantly, we gained invaluable experience that will pay dividends later in the season.
One unique feature of the Kansas City Stampede is that athletes are guaranteed a minimum of four matches across two days. Wrestlers who drop two matches just before the blood rounds are moved into what’s called a “Hard Luck” bracket, ensuring maximum mat time and a full weekend of competition.
🐆 Individual Results
-
115 lbs – Bella Gomez: Went 1–2 in the main bracket, then dropped into the Hard Luck bracket and went 3–2, finishing 4th.
-
120 lbs – Jennifer Cho: Finished 1–2 in the main bracket, then dominated the Hard Luck bracket with a 4–0 record, earning 1st place.
-
130 lbs – Ava Cooley: Faced one of the toughest brackets of the weekend, going 0–2 in the main bracket and 0–2 in the Hard Luck bracket. Despite the results, this JV freshman, pulled up to varsity, was not pinned once and lost each match by narrow point margins, showing incredible grit.
-
135 lbs – Kamalini Sankar: Went 1–2 in the main bracket, receiving an early bye that placed her into a tougher Hard Luck bracket, where she finished 1–2.
-
140 lbs – Iva Aguirre: Battled through a challenging weekend, going 1–2 in the main bracket and 2–2 in the Hard Luck bracket, just shy of placing.
-
145 lbs – Naziah Moore: The first Lady Jag to compete exclusively in the main bracket all weekend, finishing 4–2 and 7th place.
-
155 lbs – London Rolen: Stayed in the main bracket, going 3–2, narrowly missing a podium finish.
-
170 lbs – Aisha Williams Bautista: Advanced to yet another finals match, this time facing a Fargo All-American. She dropped a heart-breaker 7–6, giving up two points in the final 20 seconds. Despite the loss, Aisha remains the #1 wrestler in Texas at her weight class.
-
190 lbs – Wema Laktari: Fought her way into the quarterfinals before being medically pulled due to injury. She pushed through long enough to secure her second win of the tournament, and as a coaching staff, we have no doubt she was on a finals trajectory before the decision was made to protect her health.
The Kansas City Stampede tested our depth, resilience, and toughness — and our Lady Jaguars rose to the challenge, gaining experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else.
