What's Happening This Week:

Sultan Middle School Families,

We hope you enjoy your Spring Break and are refreshed for the start of Quarter 4!

As we get closer to the end of the school year and students begin to get excited about summer break, please be talking to your student about doing their Skyhawk BEST:

Be respectful

Engaged

Safe and

Trustworthy

Important topics to be discussing with your students:

  • It is unacceptable and hurtful to use racial slurs or derogatory language. Our school has no tolerance towards any type of racial slur or derogatory language. Please reinforce the importance of respectful communication. Thank you for your cooperation!
  • Dressing appropriately for school: shirts need to cover the abdomen and pants need to cover underwear. Tying up shirts with a rubber band to expose the abdomen is not school appropriate.

State Testing is coming up in May. Important reminders for your students:

  • Go to bed at a reasonable time to get good sleep
  • Eat breakfast, even something small will help!
  • Bring a water bottle and dress for comfort in class

Total # of students with A or A-: 400

National School Librarian Day

March 4th was National School Librarian Day! Our librarian, Nichole Gaertner, works hard for our students! She has a big heart and genuinely wants them to find a love for reading. Thank you Nichole for managing student laptops and providing a safe space for students to explore the world of books!

Telephone and Message Procedure (Office)

A phone for student use is available at the main office. Phone use is limited to no more than one minute and only for school related issues. The phone can be used before/after school and at lunch. The main office phone will not be used during class time. A telephone call for a student that will pull them out of class will only be taken if it is from a PARENT or GUARDIAN and is an emergency. Messages from friends will not be taken. Students receiving messages will be paged between classes and at the end of the day to retrieve their message. Students will NOT be pulled out of class to take phone calls or be given messages. Messages will be delivered to students outside of instructional class time.

Cell Phone and Electronic Use Policy

Students are allowed to bring personal cell phones and other electronic devices to school but they may only be used before and after school (not during lunch, in the halls during passing period, or in the bathrooms). This plan puts safety and learning as priorities. All devices should be Off & Away (not vibrate or silent) and away (in backpack) during school and passing times. If a student has an emergency or needs to communicate with home/family, please contact the front office. SMS is not responsible for lost, stolen, or missing electronic items.
