The Jayhawk Journal
Week of October 26th, 2026
Principal's Corner
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Color Run this afternoon! This event has become one of our favorites over the years, and we love the parent turn-out to come and watch. We thank the PTA for getting this started and everyone in our community who made this a great day! We are already 93% towards to our goal, keep going Jayhawks! You can donate all the way through Monday, the 26th. Just a reminder that if we hit our goal, there will be an assembly where students get to throw pies at Mr. Taub and Mr. Bublitz!
One thing that you will see here at Johnson is that we like to work hard and play hard when we can. We will also have our official Spirit Week this week of October 26th-30th. Please see the flyer below to help plan for the upcoming dates. On Friday, we do like to celebrate with some Halloween Festivities. Students are allowed to dress up, we just ask for three things. No masks, keep it school appropriate, and no toy weapons. We do enjoy the day and set up a mini trick or treat in the hallways, thank you to our wonderful PTA! We look forward to sharing this special week with our students.
Just a reminder that we have attached the family survey below here in the Journal. This data provides great feedback on how you view our school. The survey will be open until the 26th. We look forward to hearing from you, thank you for taking the time to do so.
Let's have a great Spirit Week ahead!
- Mr. Traub

Color Run Update
Thank you to all who participated in our Color Run!
We have already raised over $18,700 so far, and we are 93% towards our goal, way to go Jayhawks! Our goal is to get to $20,000 by October 26th. Your students will be able to earn prizes both individually and as a class as they continue to raise money. If we hit our goal of $20,000, then Mr. Traub and Mr. Bublitz will participate in a school assembly where pies will be thrown at them! Let's do this Johnson Community!
Johnson Family Survey
Each year after conferences, we give each family a survey to help collect feedback for our school. We will use our surveys to help see how you view your experiences here at Johnson. We are committed to making this a place to be for all families and their students. Please take the time to fill out this survey. It will remain open until October 26th. We will keep it here in the Jayhawk Journal until the survey is closed.
Thank you for your commitment to our school and our community!

Early Pick-Up Procedures
As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, please be reminded that a valid physical photo ID (such as a driver’s license or state ID) is required for anyone picking up a student. Starting immediately, our staff will be strictly enforcing this verification process every single time a student is signed out, without exception. Even if our team recognizes you, this uniform safety measure ensures we maintain the highest level of security for all children in our care. We kindly ask that you have your ID ready upon arrival to help keep the dismissal process moving smoothly. Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in keeping our school community safe!

Simply log into Parent Connect and follow the prompts.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Times
Students cannot be dropped off for school in the morning prior to 8:15am. This is when the doors open for breakfast and when staff is available to supervise students. Prior to this time, all school doors are locked. Students are not to be left unattended, arrangements must be made. Also, dismissal is at 3:30pm daily and at 11:45am on half days. It is required that all students who are picked up in the car loop be picked up no later than 3:45pm. Staff is not available to supervise students beyond that time. The district offers a SACC program for those students that cannot be picked up by 3:45pm. Please contact SACC at (734)744-2966 to make arrangements.
Medications At School
Oftentimes a student will come to the office with a medical need. The office staff is able to dispense medication as needed as long as the medication is: 1) Delivered to school by a parent in the original unopened package or prescription container, {NO MEDICATION can be brought to school by students} 2) As long as there is an individual, signed medical authorization on file for each medication {form available in the office and online} Medication includes but is not limited to cough drops, aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, prescription drugs, creams, lotions, vitamins, inhalers, EpiPens, etc.… We cannot administer any medication that is not listed on file in the office. Please reach out to Amy Dimmer in the office to set up a time to bring in medications and to review your student’s medical needs when they are in the building.
