Wireless Headphones
We have seen an increase in students bringing wireless headphones to school, pairing them with their phones, and listening to music during the day—this has become a larger concern, especially in middle school.
Moving forward, wireless headphones will be treated the same as cell phones and will be confiscated if used. After a second occurrence, a parent will be required to come to the school to retrieve the item.
Please ensure that wireless headphones are kept at home, as they cannot be connected to or used with our school-issued laptops or computers.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.

2025-2026 Academic Calendar
Quarterly Celebrations: Recognizing Achievement and Responsibility
At Franklin Academy, we believe in celebrating the achievements and growth of our students while also holding them accountable for their actions. Our Quarterly Celebrations, held at the end of each quarter, are designed to reward students who demonstrate positive behavior, responsibility, and respect for themselves and others.
To ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of these celebrations:
Any student who receives a suspension during the quarter will not be eligible to participate in the quarterly celebration.
Elementary students must have no more than 5 infractions during the quarter.
Middle school students must have no more than 4 infractions during the quarter.
Dress code violations are not included in these counts.
All students start each quarter with a clean slate, giving everyone a fresh opportunity to make positive choices and earn their way to participation. These celebrations are not only a reward—they are a way to encourage good decision-making, self-discipline, and respect for our school community.
We encourage you to continue supporting these values at home by talking with your child about the importance of thinking before acting, making positive choices, and taking responsibility for their behavior. By working together—school and families—we can help our students grow into responsible, respectful, and successful individuals.
We look forward to celebrating the hard work and accomplishments of our students each quarter, and we thank you for partnering with us to make these events meaningful and rewarding.
IB Mindset In Action: International Mindedness 🌍
International Mindedness is a central part of the IB Primary Years Programme. It encourages students to understand and respect different cultures, perspectives, and experiences around the world. Developing international mindedness helps students recognize that while people may have different traditions, languages, and beliefs, we also share many common values and responsibilities as global citizens.
Through classroom discussions, units of inquiry, and collaborative learning experiences, students build empathy, appreciation for diversity, and a deeper understanding of their place in the world.
Learner Profile Focus: Knowledgeable 📚
PYP learners strive to be Knowledgeable by exploring ideas across different subjects and gaining understanding about the world around them.
Students demonstrate this by:
- Building knowledge through inquiry and research.
- Connecting new learning to prior knowledge.
- Sharing what they learn with others.
Ask your child: “What new thing did you learn today that helped you understand the world better?”
Key Concepts Spotlight: Perspective & Connection 🔗
Students explore the key concepts of Perspective and Connection as they deepen their understanding of ideas and experiences.
- Perspective focuses on understanding that people may see or interpret the same situation in different ways.
- Connection explores how ideas, people, and systems are linked and influence one another.
By examining these concepts, students learn to think more openly, recognize different viewpoints, and understand relationships between ideas.
🧩 ATL Corner: ATL Skills and Testing ✏️
Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills play an important role in helping students prepare for and succeed during testing periods. Skills such as self-management, thinking, and communication help students stay organized, remain focused, and confidently demonstrate their learning.
Students apply ATL skills by:
- Managing their time and staying calm during assessments.
- Reading questions carefully and thinking critically before answering.
- Showing perseverance and confidence in their abilities.
👉 Try it at home: Encourage your child to practice good study habits, stay organized, and talk about strategies they use to stay focused and confident during tests.

Important Arrival/Dismissal Time Reminders for Elementary and Middle School
AM Carline Reminder:
We have a lot of families dropping off in the morning, please pull all the way up in the carline. Staff members are available throughout the entire line to assist students safely and efficiently. Please make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle upon arrival. If they are not ready, we will ask you to pull all the way up to the start of the carline.
We also ask that you do not park and walk into the school unless you are volunteering for service hours or attending a parent meeting. Please do not back into the carline, as this slows down traffic.
Our goal is to get as many cars through as smoothly, safely, and orderly as possible. Thank you for your cooperation!
PM Carline Reminder:
For the safety of everyone involved and to prevent traffic congestion that can lead to accidents, we kindly request that you do not park your vehicles on Military Trail or Miner Road during dismissal times.
We understand that waiting can sometimes be inconvenient, but we encourage you to plan your arrival between 2:20 PM and 2:35 PM for elementary students and 3:20-3:35 for middle school students. This will not only reduce your wait time but also contribute to a safer and more organized dismissal process. Please pull all the way up when in carline. This will help the wait time for all families in carline.
Please be aware that the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) has informed us that they will be issuing fines to individuals who park on Military Trail and Miner Road. We want to avoid any unnecessary fines and, more importantly, prioritize the safety of our school community.
Your cooperation in following these parking guidelines is greatly appreciated, as it ensures the well-being of all our students and families. Together, we can create a safer and more efficient dismissal experience.
