Washington Elementary School 🐾
From the desk of Dr. Tiffany Jacobson
September 25, 2026
It was a busy and productive four-day week at Washington! Across classrooms, teachers are intentionally teaching the work habits and organizational skills that help students develop independence, stamina, and confidence as learners. Students are engaging in a mix of whole-group direct instruction and small-group learning, with frequent opportunities to check for understanding and apply knowledge and skills in new ways.
A special thank-you to our PTO for Thursday’s Sweet Surprises, including custom Washington notebooks and a delicious bagel breakfast for our staff!
We also loved seeing our students dressed to impress for today’s class and individual picture day. What a great week!

5th Grade Safety Patrol
Leading by Example
Leadership is in action at Washington Elementary as our fifth grade students take on important responsibilities through the Fifth Grade Safety Patrol, led by Ms. Elizabeth Martin. The goal of the program is to empower our oldest Wildcats to serve as positive role models while providing guidance, encouragement, and support to their younger classmates.

Week of Respect
October 5 - 9, 2026
In two weeks, we will celebrate New Jersey’s Week of Respect, a time dedicated to promoting kindness, inclusion, empathy, and positive relationships in our school community. Throughout the week, students will participate in activities and conversations that encourage us to be safe, kind, and responsible, and to recognize the important role each of us plays in making Washington a welcoming place for everyone.
We’ll also celebrate with some fun Spirit Days! Look for opportunities to show your school spirit while spreading kindness and respect throughout the week. We can’t wait to see our Wildcats participating, encouraging one another, and celebrating what makes our school community special!
